Check-in after office hours was very easy, I cannot imagine easiest. The same simple way with check-out. Great location if you want to visit Hobbit set location. We found everything needed in this accommodation. One of the best motels we had in New Zealand.

The hotel matches the photos, so keep your expectations in check. Despite its age, it exudes a certain charm. The bed is comfortable, breakfast is enjoyable, and the highlight is the heated pools. The staff is wonderfully friendly and kind.

The old world charm was what we went there for, but the matching old-school racism against things Māori was unexpected. Deliberately censoring access to Māori TV and Te reo channels on the freeview.
The 24 hour access to the hotpools included in the package was lovely as was the continental breakfast. The dinner from the bar and ala carte was nice with good portions.
Beds a bit uncomfortable, needs upgrading, not much spring left in them and the ensuite sink drain needs a plumber, would not drain after 3 days and a heap of drano.
The staff in the main were lovely until I asked the manager about why no te reo TV channels. Then got a flippant, Ask Winston, he doesn't encourage Māori, and something muttered about co-governance. This spoiled what would have been a lovely 30 year relationship celebration for us.
I would have rated it 7/10, but only give it a 5/10 for the lovely staff and hot pools

We had visited Hobbiton for the Halfling Marathon and this was a great nearby location to go and relax afterwards, especially with the lovely hot springs to soak in . It's a beautiful heritage building, very clean and welcoming staff. The continental breakfast was perfect and the beds were comfortable. Rooms were clean and perfect for a short stay.

Okoroire is the hotel and the hot springs.
Okoroire is the hotel and the hot springs. There is also a golf course and a river. It is very close to Tirau on Highway1, a bustling little town oriented to the through traffic with craft and tourist shops and an array of very nice cafes. We know the area and were just breaking our trip for one night at Okoroire, but think I would plan to stay there longer another time, if I could. It is only about two hours from Auckland.
