We loved Constancia! The accommodation is well located in the village so it was easy to walk everywhere. There is free parking just down the road if you have a car. The room was bright, comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly, efficient and polite and the breakfast was an absolute bonus - fresh and delicious! We would return with no hesitation!

The view from the rooms (on the second floor) and the breakfast room is absolutely spectacular! The area is very quiet, surrounded by trees. The rooms are quite generous and ours had a good-sized balcony to enjoy the view.

It was a good basic place just off the Camino route. The shower did leak a little which made the bathroom quite wet. But otherwise it was comfy, had food at a good price and the staff were very nice!

I have to say that the stay was exceptional. Super service. The owner took us around the town and showed us the different sites. Then booked us a table at a lokal restaurant that was exelent.
We got a breakfast that was worth the cost of the stay! Then the owner wrote us a recommended tour for our continuing journey. I can really recommend this small Guest House
Aldeia do Mato is a sleepy village in the centre of Portugal...
Aldeia do Mato is a sleepy village in the centre of Portugal - there are 3 cafes in the village, no restaurants in the village itself but some not too far a drive from it,, and you get a bread van coming around in the morning everyday, with weekly visits by a fish and a meat van. Quaint is the right word for it. Nearby you have Martinchel, a larger village with a few more amenities.
There are plenty of walking/hiking routes though they do tend to be rather long so wear your comfiest shoes and come prepared! We had lunch out near the finishing point of walking routes - in Sardoal, Vila de Rei and in Abrantes, all under a 30 min drive.
In summer the river beach is great. There isn't a lot to entertain children apart from the beach/pool area and mobile connection is very spotty, but we saw quite a few families with young kids around and they did not look bored! Saying that you can rent canoes and kayaks to explore the river at your leisure (prices seemed reasonable to me) and there's also a wakeboard track that seemed very popular during the day, so there are options for those with older children too.

I can not forget the hostel Quinta da Eira Velha where I stayed. It was a cozy and very quiet place, and all facilities were perfect. The nearby lake was great for strolling around. Especially breakfast prepared by host was really delicious. . Above all, the host, Jorge, gave us a great kindness. When we arrived there was a problem with our car and we could solve it with his help. Thanks again to Jorge!
