What a wonderful place to completely disconnect! From the house to the pool, everything was so clean and well maintained that you can clearly see the love and care Sandra and Kurt put in this place. It was one of the most peaceful places I've ever been, and I'm already planning on going back.
There was everything in the house, pans, towels, even a portable AC (which wasn't needed at all). Breakfast was full and had everything you needed and more, bacon, eggs, milk, bread, ham, jams, etc.
The surrounding area was so quiet you could only hear the birds and the sheep that they have at the property (the cutest things) and Akita (the owners' dog) would make a very welcoming appearance once in a while too.
There's nothing bad to say about Horta da Rosa. Congratulations to Sandra and Kurt for creating such an incredible place to be!

A very cute little house, nicely furnished, comfortable, right on the central square of Vila Alva
More of a village than a town with quirky streets.
More of a village than a town with quirky streets. Very well located for touring this part of the Alentejo region; 25 miles from Evora and similar distance from Beja. Visit the dam near Alqueva for fabulous views of the Barragem de Alqueva.

Lovely village with lots of monuments, friendly people, local cafes and restaurants with good food, better to visit on a weekday when all stores are open and it's more lively but nice and quiet for a weekend.

a delightful village in a calm environment- for a break it was wonderful. we overnighted there en route to the central region of Portugal. For that it was an easy stop. We could have spent a few more days there, relaxing, especially if it had not been lockdown
This is a very special place with owner, who is tacking care of his visitors as if they were part of a family. High class service, very intelligent and interesting conversations, even small extras for you to feel special and being care of. I really recommend the place to stay for a short or longer trip. Breakfast - excellent! Location - excellent! Decore and cleanliness of rooms - very good! It is a place to feel comfortable and warm. All the best for the owner of the hotel!
This is a wonderful place to stay with a lovely warm pool set in an attractive garden. It was really relaxing and tiny Alvito has a welcoming kiosk which serves drinks in the main square. We had a delicious dinner in the courtyard as swallows swooped overhead in the blue sky. We liked all the local produce and Alentejan specialities - and the wine was good and very reasonable. We'd definitely stay again.
The garden and the pool are beautiful. The room was very large and stylish with a view of the garden. The hotel is locally owned. Staff are trained by owner who runs a vocational school to support the local economy by creating jobs. The staff is very attentive, The meals in the restaurant are excellent
Lots of history in Pousada and the surroundings. There are a few things to do around Alvito, but there are not enough things requiring to stay longer than a day in Alvito. We had a nice dinner with all the food and wine sourced from Alentejano. There was only one person serving, but he was amazing.
We enjoyed our night at the Pousada Castelo de Alvito. Our room was cozy and very comfortable. The garden view was great. The breakfast was also very good. We enjoyed walking around Alvito after arriving. The Pousada is definitely a classy place to stay.
Beautiful and unique castle hotel in a pretty and quiet village. Everything was first class. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very good and the food delicious. The bedrooms were tastefully decorated and the beds very comfortable.
Where to start?...this hotel has presence, staying here is an occasion!....we intended to check in and head for Evora for the afternoon....but the pool gardens bar and games room caught us and we changed plans on the fly!....we will definitely visit again
Beautiful place, very peaceful. Very tiny village so not a lot to do in the immediate waking area but doesn’t matter as being in the hotel is so restful. The staff are all amazing- friendly, caring and professional.. would definitely recommend
The restaurant was very good and the local wines on offer with high quality. Even better, we were able to buy them from the hotel. The reception staff were helpful and friendly.
