The monastery / cathedral was great.
The monastery / cathedral was great. And there was a great little flea market Sunday morning in the adjacent parking lot focused on antiques. I had dinner in an excellent restaurant across from my hotel, just behind the monastery and was really rather impressed. And of course Super Bock was available everywhere.

They let me leave my bike and luggage in the hotel so I could spend the afternoon sightseeing. The room was spacious and well equipped with a good bathroom. Best of all was the Aircon also heated. Due to COVID, breakfast was a bit packaged, but fresh and adequate. Great view of the monastery from the breakfast room. Cheap kebab shop almost next door, for those in a budget.

My husband and I ordered one of everything. It was the best meal we have had in Portugal. We were so impressed that we stayed additional day. Our host was also a tour guide. Hosts very friendly. Lovely small garden in back, guests encouraged to enjoy and feed the animals (shelled corn provided) - chickens, ducks, hamsters, rabbit, goats, sheep, and pony that they let kids ride. Lovey room, friendly staff with excellent restaurant recommendation. Be aware there are two areas to park, the one by the reception only has 3 spaces, but there is a larger one at the base of the hill. There are indoor and outdoor pools, and a kid's play room.
