Great place for two couples. Fantastic view. Excellent and very welcoming host.
Before arrival, our key concern was if internet will be sufficient to do work video calls and it was all fine and worked very well.

The location was really good, next to a natural pool. There are restaurants and a grocery shop near by. It has a really great view on Pico mountain. There are plenty of parking space in front of the building.
The check in went smoothly, and the owner was able to arrange a morning check in for us, so it's worth asking, but it based on availability and other guests leaving time.
Situated in Velas in the São Jorge Island region, Velasmar II features accommodation with free WiFi.

Good value, spacious, basic but very comfortable appartment. Beautiful natural swimming pool in the sea at the end of the road. Owners allowed us to check in early and arranged a taxi for the airport.

Nice location. Very friendly owner. Family place. Cozy.
Amazing place. Completely stocked small supermarket.
Amazing place. Completely stocked small supermarket. Chinese store had an amazing selection of clothes, electronics, etc. Restaurants were wonderful. Everyone we meet was helpful and friendly. Go to the lagoon on the otherside of the island - heavenly. Better hydranga lined roads and fields than Sao Miguel. Call Ramos for taxi service - he is my cousin.

Piscina Natural Simao Dias, the most beautiful natural pool in the Azores. I would recommend it to others.
I traveled around the island on a rented scooter. But I thought it was safer to use a car.

Velas is a lovely little town on Sao Jorge.
Velas is a lovely little town on Sao Jorge. It isn't large but has everything you need for a week on tge island. There are several natural swimming pools with free umbrellas and shower/changing facilities (the fact they're free unlike so many places is really good). The restaurants we ate in were really good serving local produce with good value for money. The rest of the island has the spectacular scenery and Velas is a good place to base yourself to see it.

The hospitality of this village is to die for.
The hospitality of this village is to die for. Great food, pure hearted people, I recommend having a meal at Cervejaria S. Jorge with the great Chef Luísa Fernandes, take a boat tour and walk from Serra do Topo to the Fajãs. Try the local cheese and pair it with a nice glass wine. It's a healing place, too beautiful to describe. Book a longer stay, it's really worth the time

Velas is just a place to stay to have a base to explore the nature on the island. Unfortunately we had rain and fog most of the time and got to see very little. There is an excellent restaurant in the next town, Rosais. It is called O Branqinho and has a fabulous lunch for only about 8 euros.

This place was an apartment above a cake shop!!
This place was an apartment above a cake shop!! Breakfast was in the shop and it was open long hours for dinks etc. Very modern and well appointed but very noisy on two nights but this was only because it was festa time.and the stage was right next door in the market I bought some earplugs and after that it was FINE!!
Hotel was a bit hidden away through some very small streets, but is located at a beautiful location. From the hotel there is a very nice view over the ocean, and you can see the other islands (Pico and Faial) in the distance.
Very friendly staff that gave us good recommendations for places to visit on the island, and were also very helpful during the serving of the breakfast. The hotel also has a restaurant, which serves some good dinner for not too much money.
Amazing location, one of the best views I've ever had in any hotel. You could just chill for a few days on the terrace, not doing anything else, and it would be good enough :)
Add to this very nice and helpful owner, comfortable bungalow, good location to explore the island (you should definitely do it, no matter how cool is the view from the terrace, São Jorge is a beautiful island worth exploring) and you have fantastic stay.
Very recommended
The reason I couldn’t give this hotel a great rating was primarily due to the use of highly perfumed cleaning products which I was extremely allergic too. I had to leave the room the first night and read in the lounge area. It eventually got somewhat better but then another underlying smell occurred. Despite this it had an amazing view of Mount Pico and the breakfast included was good with lots of very fresh fruits and good guality food.
The house is located 35min walking from downtown or 5min by car. Probably the best view in Velas- Sao Jorge with Pico volcano as the landscape! The internet is good. The house has all the machines needed and the managers were very kind to leave enough clothes /dishes detergent (which is not usual in the places where I stayed) or even nespresso👌👌👌! Very calm place. THANK YOU! 👍👍👍
The breakfast was perfect, the location with the views amazing and all the areas to sit and relax. We arrived late in the evening and they had left us a small plate of cheese, bread and a chilled carafe of Maria's husbands homemade tangerine liqueur, quite tasty! We did not have a car and walking into Velas in the evening for dinner and back was quite pleasant.
The property is beautifully appointed and centrally located in the beautiful village of Velas. Room was spacious, clean with views towards the ocean. The kitchen with conservatory was delightful, was so lovely to enjoy a cup of coffee while taking in the sun and views. Ana, the host, provided some great suggestions on what to visit during our short stay.
The breakfast was terrific! The owner, Leticia, her son, and Catherina were very accommodating and kind.
The hotel is located in a small village near Velas. You will need a car to move around the island. However, the views from the hotel are unique! Very peaceful place.
The cabins/ apartments are very spacious, comfortable, and clean!
Hotel location is perfect. The room/apartment room is spotless clean and fully equipped with a kitchenette and laundry facilities. The owners are very nice people who really cared about our children and marked clearly in a map the places to visit and recommended restaurants, all references were absolutely amazing and accurate.
This was a decent hotel. My room was very small but the bathroom was great. Miguel, one of the owners, was very attentive and kind. The room was cleaned every day and the breakfast was good. The location was the best part of it, very central, close to lots of restaurants, a good supermarket and the main square.
The garden with the swimmingpool couldn't be situated better. The view from the balcony in the room was spectacular as well.
The walking distance to the restaurants in town is only five minutes (the hotel has none).
Breakfast was good. Staff is friendly.
You can get towels for the pool at the reception.
Casa dos Lagos was a fantastic stay and exceeded our expectations for view and beauty! The place was cosy, relaxing, and the garden was exceptionally beautiful. The pond, flowers, and view are far more beautiful in person than in the pictures and it was always a joy to eat, sit, and relax outside!
The room was a short walk to anything in town. There’s also cafe with one of the better menu offerings in town right next to the hotel. My favourite amenity was the room’s large balcony with a great view of Pico. The staff is friendly and helpful. I asked lots of questions.
lovely place, all you need at hand, amazing view on Velas, and wonderful smile and hospitality of Gisela and family.
best to have a (good) car or good physique to walk up from Velas :) but definitely worth while!
Everything about this place is wonderful. It sits on a hill above the vila of Velas with beautiful views of Pico. Gisela is also a wonderful hostess, who makes sure you’re happy and have everything you need!
