This is the best equipped hotel around the area. The location is right by the reservoir. If you wake up early enough you can get yourself quite a walk around the reservoir. You can even cross the island free of charge before 9AM. The breakfast items have vegetarian or meat containing signs right near them. Drink the milk tea!

This is a real classic hotel in Taiwan. It has a really high level of cleanliness in the room and a really soft down duvet ^_^ the hotel furniture is really beautiful, ornamental, dark wood, antique Chinese furniture with embedded mother-of-pearl paintings. :-O The staff were super friendly and kind, including the bosses at reception to the cleaners on my floor. I am so thankful to them for showing me Miaoli's hospitality. <3 the location was super as well, very convenient next to a number of eateries, convenience stores, bus routes out to Taipei and surrounds, and it was very quiet and peaceful next to our hotel. There is a daytime market just a few steps down the road also, to buy fresh fruit and vegetables or just to have a look at the thriving community.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel is a family run business by an elderly couple. Hotel room dated but generally clean. i think the toilet was recently renovated. Simple breakfast provided and staff made effort to give variety.

Communication was prompt and checkin instructions were clear, including directions for parking (bonus for those who are driving). Although within an old building, the rooms and toilet are modern and comfortable enough. The owner put alot of thought into the decorations and it is tasteful and photo worthy. We stayed as a couple and had the whole house to ourselves, but would be ideal for larger groups too. There are some board games provided for entertainment.
For international travellers, do note that you are unable to pay the deposit so please communicate with the owner to prevent any misunderstandings. Appreciate the owner for honouring our reservation and allowing us to pay on the day of our stay.
