Clifton is a beautiful small town with a perfect TN river view from a public park. We have visited many times over the years, staying with the lovely ladies at the Pillow Street BB, as well as the bear inn, further inland. The Pillow Street Inn is in view of the river, and walking distance to downtown and the river park. This town is very quiet, with a multicultural, welcoming experience. We have family in the area. We enjoyed it and hope to return often. Before the bridge, there was a ferry across the river. My husband remembers his grandmother taking him and his siblings across on a ferry ride from Decatur county, in the 1960's. Now there is a small park where the ferry crossed. Pay attention to the concrete at the river park, and on city sidewalks. We think it shows prehistoric fossils dug up from the river bed.
