Colonial Beach is the perfect little beach to get away from the crowds. It's location in a small town is perfect for relaxing and unwinding. It can be a little busy on the weekend but weekdays are quiet and calming.

If you are looking for a peaceful escape from the world Colonial Beach is the place to be! When you drive into Colonial Beach it doesn’t seem like much, but the beach is perfect! Everything you want is either a short golf cart ride, or walk away. The people are extremely friendly and helpful.

A place from the 60's with little to no improvement made to the rooms. Unfortunately it is the only hotel in Colonial Beach so what choice do you have if you want to overnight? Lot of obnoxious bikers with loud bikes in and out at all hours making it difficult to sleep. A group of Mexican low riders stayed for the weekend along with there loud muffler cars. If you want to stay at a low rent hotel, charging inflated room prices, this is your place!

The people who live and work in Colonial Beach are all very nice, and seem to really enjoy the visitors. No matter where we went, restaurants , grocery stores, even a local car repair guy named Carey ( checked our car real quick because the check engine light came on ) turns out it was something simple, Anyway... pleasant people everywhere! Must be that beautiful beach atmosphere. Walgreens staff was super accommodating as well. Wilkerson's was probably our favorite place to eat dinner. Lenny's makes very good breakfast food too. I love that you can rent a golf cart and zip around town. We stayed at Rivers edge Inn!! Loved that place!!! We're definitely planning another visit to Colonial beach.

Colonial Beach is not a typical ocean beach, it was nice and quaint but very busy. I think COVID has really made more people stay closer to home. While there try Linny's for breakfast and Nancy's for ice cream. You can't beat Wilkerson's Seafood Restaurant for in Potomac Beach for good seafood.

This was a cute town, and we enjoyed our weekend here!

This was a cute town, and we enjoyed our weekend here! The waterfront is way beachier than I'd expect given that it's on a river - you can barely see across at some points, and there are a lot of wide sandy beaches (that appear artificially augmented). Some palm trees planted in/near the beach too, and lots of cute beach houses! On the downside, the majority of the restaurants had just fried meat/seafood and little in the way of vegetarian or otherwise healthy offerings. And when we visited in early June 2021, almost no one else was wearing a mask indoors or out, even in crowded areas.
