We stayed on a Monday night and most restaurant in town, including our hotel’s restaurant, was closed except for one. Long Lake probably needs to coordinate a little better although it was early in the season. Hotels should Perhaps offer some continental fare. On the following day every single restaurant was closed and we had to go to a neighboring town for breakfast. I’m sure things will be more hopping in July and August. Darryl”s Country Diner In Blue Mountain Lake just happened to have their grand opening the day before.

Long Lake is the spot to create family memories.

Long Lake is the spot to create family memories. Beautiful water front properties. Great restaurants and shops in town. They have pretty much everything for everyone. Beautiful trails and a wonderful lake to explore from one end to the other. Strongly recommend going to Buttermilk Falls, Custards Last Stand and eating out at ADK Hotel.

Long Lake is beautiful, right next to our Lodge were Buttermilk Falls. It's a short walk to the falls so anyone can do it. It is rocky and the trail is uneven, but still easy and it's absolutely gorgeous. Good place to picnic and explore. In the small town of Long Lake, there is a public beach that had several docks, slides. Very inviting and fun for families! Besides eating at the Long View Lodge which was excellent, we also ate at the Owl Head Restaurant and Diner. Great breakfast and dinner!!! Ice Cream at Custards Last Stand or The Park is highly recommended.

NEVER take a room facing Route 28.

NEVER take a room facing Route 28. Room was loud with the road traffic and parking lot, and with no A/C we needed the windows open. Hotels sign at the road is BRIGHT and the blinds do not block the light much. Restaurant is good.

    It's the Adirondacks!

It's the Adirondacks! Lakes, trails, country as rugged as you want. The only problem in season is likely to be the number of other people who go there to "get away from it all." Of course, the farther north you go, the fewer people you'll encounter. Long Lake is more rustic and less congested than a lot of other tourist areas.
