Though Manchester is dotted with name brand retailers, it has retained a semblance of culture that typifies mountain life in southern Vermont. Northshire Bookstore alone is well worth a visit or stay. We could have spent a week there, or more, and did spend several hours on an all-too short weekend stay. In an era dominated by online-homogenization, finding an authentic bookstore is like turning the pages of a book like none other. Add the special touches like home baked goods, creative entrees, a caring/knowledgeable staff----and the reasons for a timely return visit are manifest.

The property is adorable and very close to town. Breakfast in the morning is so tasty and fresh, not your run of the mill hotel breakfast.
