A boring little city trying pass as an interesting medium...
A boring little city trying pass as an interesting medium city... and failing. The lovely old cathedral was closed for visits due to vandalism. Uruguay used to be such a safe country, but times have changed.

Interesting place.
Interesting place. Initial impressions, a prosperous agricultural centre with an added holiday influx. The tv channels included a rural focus one (and a rather interesting one showing cultural features in German). There’s a local historical museum which I found interesting, with a room concentrating on labour history - fascinating given the strong rural nature of most of the other sections there.
In winter the river beaches were marred by rubbish, but I guess they get cleaned up for the summer season.
The hotel is great, but the staff is the best. Very friendly and helpful. It was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is nice, and the location exceptional.
