We actually moved here from a homestay by the lake as it was really loud there at night and we had to be up early to get the bus to Hanoi so wanted to move somewhere closer. The owner (I think his name is Luan but apologies if that's wrong!) was so helpful, we chatted on WhatsApp about how we could transfer to his place and he came and got us from the pier. He also personally called the bus company and arranged for them to collect us from right outside the hotel. We enjoyed a really great dinner and he, his wife and their daughter ate in the restaurant afterwards. He is also really knowledgeable about local birds and has photos up that he's taken. We didn't do any tours with him but if we come back we would definitely book to do something with him! The room was clean and had everything we needed, everything was peaceful in the evening and it was half the price of the previous place! We were so glad we made the decision to move!

The owner is very, very nice. We ate at the property, and the food was gerat, but for quite a bit more expensive than what you'd find elsewhere in Vietnam.

I would really recommend coming to Ho Ba Be.
I would really recommend coming to Ho Ba Be. I had a great time there. It's not as touristy yet as many places in Vietnam. I enjoyed staying at Tran Xuan Homestay, with a view on the mountains and rice fields. There is quite a lot to do there; the lake is massive and good for kayaking. Overall, it's a beautiful place in nature where you can enjoy some peace and quiet and take in both the local culture and nature.

This is one of the most beautiful places I have been in the world. It has some of the most dense, lush vegetation I've ever seen. Jungles, rainforests, waterfalls, rice terraces and wildlife abound. If you love peace and nature, you will find this place superb.

The waterfall and the cave are pretty amazing.
The waterfall and the cave are pretty amazing. But the beauty of the place is in the lake waters surrounded by the wondrous limestone peaks. It looks like this place is not on earth. Signs of pollution are beginning to show up in the plastic bottles and cans floating on the river, so hurry up and go visit it soon before it gets taken over by overuse and crass commercialization. You won’t forget this place!
