I had a wonderful time during the five days which I stayed at Nam Du. It's important to understand that the tourism infrastructure on this island is not as developed as in other places in Vietnam and nearly entirely aimed at local tourists. It's not a place for a western style beach holiday but mainly a place to come to eat fresh seafood and have a good time. Nam Du guesthouse is one of the few places where the staff is more used to deal with international tourists which makes it very easy to organize your stay. The staff including the owner is the biggest asset of this place. Wether they speak English or not, they are all extremely friendly,helpful, polite , welcoming, honest,patient and generous. The rooms are basic but clean, with fan and AC, big comfortable bed, good cold water shower, decent Wifi. Upstairs nice big balcony with sea view, downstairs the restaurant next to the sea where you can get hot water for your coffee , ice for your beer and of course seafood which you will still dream of when you left the island. The staff will help you with whatever you want, pick up and drop off at the ferry port, motorbike or scooter rental, boattrip, general recommendations and they might even invite you to have a couple of beer together. They will prepare lunch or dinner with unbelievable cheap amounts of fresh seafood , but you should also try one of the local restaurants near the ferry port (easy and delightful 20 minutes walk through the local village)where you certainly will make some new Vietnamese friends in the evening. The island is small and if you want it's very easy to circumnavigate the whole island in a couple of hours by foot. The boattrip is nothing spectacular but will take you to some interesting places and once again a good opportunity to get to know some of the Vietnamese tourists who join you on the boat. Nam Du is an island where you still can experience Vietnam like it was everywhere else 20 years ago.

They were nice - i dont have enough dongs to pay so they arranged exchange of euros in the marina with someone - on the island there are no ATMs, banks and card payment possibilities, so be prepared;) they can't speak EN but Google translator solved it;)
