Good location; very small room, not suitable for tall elderly people. Could not even stand in the bath tub to dry up. The eating utensils cupboard is in the bathroom and toilet. Nowhere to clean dishes . Thoughtful provision of a steam iron! Safe and peaceful otherwise. All appliances working well.

A great little place for holidays and there are many nature walks within a 20 minute drive. It helps to know a local who can tell you about all the great stuff that is hard to find on the internet (or all the great places that are on the internet but are now closed).

The waterfalls are amazing as is the nearby dam.
The waterfalls are amazing as is the nearby dam. People are very friendly and I enjoyed the beautiful vistas and the mist over the surrounding hills. Now I understand why so many people retire to the Midlands. I ate at several coffee shops and restaurants. I found prices to be very reasonable.

I was very disappointed about the town of Howick, especially the area around the Falls. Its full potential was never fully realized, but, even with that in mind, it is a shadow of its former, limited, glory. Roads are uneven, gardens and verges are unkept, the tearoom looked desolate and the public toilets charged R 2 with no soap, toilet paper or toilet seats. This town and the falls should and could be a tourist Mecca with tour bus upon tour bus, quaint curio shops, restaurants, etc. It is an understatement to say that I left back to Durban with sadness in my heart about his state of affairs.
By the way, and without going into detail, the same applies to MidmarDam.

We were there to enjoy the Midlands Meander and Howick is part of that, so cannot be excluded. the position is wonderful to be able to get around to all the exciting little places that the Meander offers.
Beautiful countryside, lovely restaurants, wonderful overnight stay in a nice and quiet area, with super friendly hosts!
We had dinner for the Little Mozambique restaurant and breakfast at the overnight Meander Inn.
It is quite easy to get around the town of Howick.
Nothing to avoid on our next visit...we wouldl prefer to stay longer next time!
Unfortunately we were on a business visit, so there was no time for sightseeiing!
Very warm welcome; comfortably carpeted floor, covered with spotlessly clean rugs; clever use of space, eg. compact and cosy kitchenette, well-equipped, with good sized dining table, in alcove which separated it from bedroom area, so a spacious ambience; pleasant garden environment; comfortable overnight temperature on chilly evening, thanks to effective wall heaters; provision of bottled water and a jug of milk in fridge; loads of storage space in a large number of built-in cupboards/wardrobes.
Well appointed and very pleasing to both look at at and stay in. Completrly separate from main house, which we liked. Functional and very comfortable with several nice touches such as hot chocolate and a.warm throw on a.chilly night. . Will.def recommend and stay there if we visit Howick again.
I can't fault anything from this quaint little cottage.
Exceptional service, the guy even called us when we left to tell us we left our babies jacket ! How rare is this ! :)
A fantastic break from the city, cows grazing outside your door, a real bush vibe with a modern touch
Everything.
We really enjoyed our stay and will stay there agin in the future
We stayed one night on our way down to Gauteng and were so impressed that we stayed there again on our way back home. Such a lovely cottage with wonderful hosts. Thank you Emily & Josh.
Nutmeg Guest House is in a secure and convenient location in Howick and it was easy for me to come and go as I pleased.
Peter and his staff are friendly and accommodating and made my stay enjoyable. I will be stay there again.
Neat and tidy like the off grid off radar feel right size for small 4 people family vacation and better as 2 or 1 business sitter.
Hosts gracious and low touch
Thanks!
Hope chance to pass by Howick and stay again
Very easy to find and extremely accommodating host. The venue was spotlessly clean and inviting. We only used it for a stopover on our way to Durban, but would love to return for a few days to explore Howick.
Private & peaceful. Well equipped, great aesthetic, and a very comfortable space to relax. Some great grassland hiking/cycling trails to explore (forest higher up). Enjoyed a very relaxing stay at Rockwood.
Best Holiday Home in Howick.
Spacious and comfortable. Wendy was very helpful and friendly.Everything about the house is beautiful. The pictures does not do it justice.
I will definitely be back again!!!
Nice and cozy. Perfect for a night or 2. The hosts are super friendly and welcoming when arriving at the property. It's smaller than expected on the photos but its functional. Nice amd beautiful garden.
Really clean, well equipped and comfy apartment with kind hosts who even gave us some helpful advice regarding our further trip. All in all just a lovely place to stay. I would give 11/10 if possible.
The flat is nice and clean, comfortable beds and the kitchen has everything that you need. The location is perfect, close to the shopping center. Situated in a good area of Howick.
Breakfast was very good. Locality was excellent. Overall very well appointed. Can recommend it to anyone needing comfortable accommodation overnight or for a few days.
Very cosy and heartwarming. Friendly people running the beautiful country hotel. Food delicious and been able to enjoy a warming fire in our fabulous room was great.
Breakfast was mediocre but the dinner meals that I had in their restaurant were very good. I liked the fact that there was a "load shedding"lamp next to the bed.
The room was a nice size and very comfortable. I felt at home there and very much enjoyed my stay. I would recommend Biggy Best to anyone travelling to Howick.
