The setting was great. Surrounded by greenery, very quiet with a nice view of the water. Lovely sunrises and very helpful host nearby. Spacious with fully equipped kitchen and washing machine. Everything was very clean and the beds were comfortable.

Beautiful building, amazing location, friendly and personable host who lives near the property. Kitchen filled with everything needed for home cooking, and a coffee machine. Heaters, fans, coolers, comfortable mattresses, sheets and towels - everything you could need was supplied. It felt like a dream home. Tropical islands such as Yakushima do have large spiders and insects - be sure to keep mesh window screens closed and consider carefully using bug spray provided by the host, or bringing your own preferred type.

The host was very kind, spoke perfect English and went out of his way to help us — making several calls for us. The cottage is extremely spacious and has a full kitchen. We loved our stay here and wish we could have stayed longer!

The location was amazing and the views made me want to go back. We stayed here while we did a lot of hiking in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. It felt like a home away from home on a beautiful island. When we got there we were given some of the best orange juice I've ever had and a rundown of everything that we had available in the cottage. There were fruit trees outside and they kept our little bowl of fruit full of oranges we happily ate on our hikes. We were there over christmas and they left homemade orange ice cream in our freezer while we were out. It was so sweet of them and gave us something to celebrate with after dinner. The kitchen was set up so we could easily make our meals with cute setups for us to eat with. When we would get back after our hikes it was nice to have the bath to relax in after making dinner. The futons were quite comfortable and the view of the stars we a lovely treat to wake up to in the night. I hope we can get back here whenever we return to Japan!

They went beyond and above and we felt really welcome here! We even got a daily local surprise which was really great and delicious! The location was perfect for us, not in the city and you could enjoy the island and the quiet surrounding. I would recommend to go by car as we felt this make it more convenient (but maybe only personal preference). All in all, we can only recommend staying here when visiting Yakushima.
