We really liked Betty’s Cottage and the owners were really nice. They booked our bus from Colombo to Jaffna which was a huge help, and they waited up until 4 am for us to arrive. We had only booked the place for the following night so they charged us half a day. The breakfast offered was fine, nothing to rave about. The WiFi is really good! The hosts are also nice and very dedicated to making sure we got everything we needed.

Their cooking is absolutely delicious - a delight to get enjoyed. The rooms are spacious and very clean. I had left my medicines in Colombo and Berty took me I to the pharmacy to have the replaced. Their ho e is situated in a very quiet area and you wake to the sound of a variety of birds. A very enjoyable and comfortable stay and I will definitely stay there again when I next return to Jaffna

Berty and Hilda are wonderful people really helpful with anything we needed, train, tuk tuk & tours before and after we arrived. Food was delicious as we requested genuine Sri Lankan and my husband got great cooking tips in the kitchen with dinner. They even packed our breakfast because we had a very early departure. The accommodation and their home is very clean and we felt welcome in all living areas. Thank you Berty and Hilda for a wonderful visit to Jaffna.

If you are looking for simple yet comfortable homestay in Jaffna, Berty Cottage is a gem of a place sure to satisfy most guests.

Our room was large, with good size comfortable double bed. Air con, plus fan, plus mosquito net over bed. Plenty of sockets and good wifi. A lounge area with T.V. and dining area. Excellent delicious substantial breakfast. Allen was an extremely charming and helpful host, always willing to answer our questions, phone transport etc.

The shower was warm and powerful. The location is good – it's only a short drive from the city centre, and it’s a short walk to nearby restaurants and the Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil (beautiful Hindu temple). The (paid for) breakfast buffet that is available at the nearby Heritage Hotel was varied and tasty. Have some masala chai! The staff were very happy to hold our luggage at reception for the afternoon, when we checked out.
