A paradise within a paradise! Franschhoek itself is pretty nice and for all wine lovers a paradies. But we immediately felt at home, when we arrived at the Cottage on 55. The hosts are super nice and helpful, the garden is amazing and the room is more than a room, it is a 360 degrees wellbeing place with so many nice and well chosen details, that you immediately settle in and relax. The water quality is excellent from the tub. For me, the best water I ever drank. But this on a side-note.

Location was fabulous - in the middle of a wine estate. Separate bungalow, good size, well appointed with great kitchen facilities. Real wood heater stove was very cosy as it was quite cold in the evenings. Breakfast was excellent - good choice of buffet with additional food cooked to order. Also an excellent hike around the hills of the estate arranged by the staff.

Tranquility and spending quality time are the main things we were looking for and that is exactly what we got. Beautiful views, away from our usual busy city life. The place was clean, great staff - very welcoming. We felt like we were part of the family and the team made great suggestions on local restaurants to visit for dinner. The complimentary wine tasting and wine in our suite were highly appreciated. We did not feel the impact of loadshedding because the house had a back up power supply. The second day of our stay was a cold day but we had wine and a fire place in our suite to make everything alright.

The hot tub was a great feature, but it did take 4 hours to heat up, not 1.5 as stated in the instructions. It was very cold which probably played a role though. Some lights still worked during load shedding and there was a small gas stove for use during load shedding, which was all useful. There was a bottle of Courchevel rosé in the fridge which we enjoyed!

The outdoor sitting area is spacious and enjoyable to take in the views, see the horses in the paddock and watch the sunset. Conveniently located to Franschhoek for the amenities and great restaurants. Did enjoy the excellent rose from the vineyard too.
