We were staying at the Black Horse for a wedding in the local area. The hotel was excellent, stylishly decorated and situated in the really pretty village of Amberley. We had an evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant, the food was fantastic. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The location is ideal for visiting Arundel and the surrounding countryside. We would thoroughly recommend the Black Horse!

I booked this on a whim whilst out hiking the South Downs, I just needed a place to crash. It turned out to be one of the best places I've ever stayed. When I arrived they had not long stopped serving food (on a Sunday, when it's really popular and busy) but they checked me in and sorted me out with some food! Everyone was ridiculously friendly and helpful, the Roast Dinner was insane! Bed was really comfortable! Just a great place and people! Highly recommend!

The location is wonderful, with expansive views over the countryside. It's a short walk to the local pub, shop and tea room. The house is quaint and characterful, but also surprisingly spacious, with a big living space. There is parking for one car outside. The wood burning fireplace makes it warm and cosy.

What an amazing pub! Lots of different spaces, including a garden that must be lovely in the summer. A quiet time of year, but lots of locals in and a real feeling of local pub (couple of entitled loud-mouths at one point, but I managed to move away). Food was top drawer, and even if Amberley ale is brewed 15 minutes' drive away it's a good pint if you like golden but not too hoppy. Breakfast also excellent (but only if included on b&b tariff: £20 ouch)

Beautiful location and well kept gardens and surroundings Very peaceful with extremely comfortable bed, spacious room and modern en-suite bathroom with long deep bath (we stayed in Arundel room) Really get a sense of history in this hotel. Staff were friendly. This one night stay was very special. You need to have a spare £900 for a one night stay with dinner, wine and breakfast but well worth the luxury!
