In my opinion, Bergen itself has really suffered since the British forces closed down their camp and moved back to the UK. But the surrounding area has still got a lot to offer. I main stay in Bergen because of Desperados restaurant and their great food. I was based in Bergen for 8 years and it saddens me to see it so empty.

First and foremost, great air-condition, and it’s a lot in August to get some good sleep in a cool room after getting no sleep in other hotels that have only “venting”. The rooms are very clean and the shower looks brand new. The breakfast is really nice with wide variety. Good location to get to Heide or Serengeti theme parks. The Landhotel is typical of this traditional style of hotel. The room was comfortable and of reasonable size. We had dinner at the hotel and elected to have local dishes. They were generous and made from locally sourced produce - delicious. Breakfast was good and the buffet well laid out. The staff were very helpful and courteous.
