The town lives in the shadow of Santa Claus Village but is worth sightseeing for itself. The modern architecture, the Arcticum museum, good infrastructure, nice surroundings - there is much to see and do for a couple of days.

A nice town at the arctic circle, museums, sporting facilities, theatre, shopping malls, reastaurants, hotels. It has an airport connected with Helsinki, Dublin, Brusseles (and perhaps more).
There is a whole village dedicated to the Santa Claus theme.
There are buildings made from ice during the winter, some hotels and wedding-places among them.

Rovaniemi is a really great city to visit.
Rovaniemi is a really great city to visit. In winter the city is under a lot of snow but has always trucks to get the snow out of the road, small rocks on the pavement to prevent from falling.
Rovaniemi has a lot of green tracks and its is lovely to follow them along the river. Great places for children to play too.
For dinner time, I can recommend the MonteRosa restaurant in the city center. Great and friendly service from all the employees, excellent food and drinks. (I can recommend the salmon soup, the grilled salmon and the reindeer cooked two ways).
For lunch, I went to Cafe & Bar 21. It was busy from 12 to 15 (I guess very popular) but nonetheless very enjoyable. Combining the bar/coffee with Yuca (a mexican restaurant) is great because people can have different lunch if wished. The deserts are also excellent.
For the activities, everybody can found something that they like. For the french people you can found the Nordic Odyssey office to book activities with a french translator (even if the english explanation I had where really understanding). It can always be helpful for the people who can't speak english.
You can found supermarket everywhere and some of them are open until 22:00 which is great.

Santa from the city center was better than the one in SCV (...
Santa from the city center was better than the one in SCV (at least for us). He was really communicative, giving us tips and tricks for aurora hunting. After we bought a picture we could take more with our own phone, made videos for our friends etc.
We love that there are different places where you can barbeque during the walking.
Lake from Artikum museum is a good place to see aurora. Loved the winter trails.
Souvenirs are cheaper in SCV than in the city center.

The centre of Rovaniemi is easy to get around and has plenty of shops and cafes, plus supermarkets if you're self-catering. It is a perfect snowy destination in winter. We visited the Snow Hotel (you need to dress up warmly as its pretty cold, but a vodka in the Ice Bar helps!) and also Santa Village, which is probably best for families with small children
Having a car was a must for this property, and it was well looked after with dedicated and covered parking incl. engine heater plug. We had a couple of nights here in February 2022, before heading further north to Levi, and loved it - simple, clean, stylish, and comfortable. The linen and towels were present, as requested, the kitchen had everything we needed in terms of utensils (there are a couple of supermarkets within a short walk) and the cottage (it’s not a hotel) was within an easy drive of the airport and Rovaniemi.
The property is hard to find. we had problem with water flooding and didn't drain out after shower. we cannot continue shower more than 1 minute and floor flooded. Sauna is not working. we email the property they never reply or apologize for the inconvenience. wifi not working. mattresses not comfortable. cleaning fee is included in the booking yet we have to take out garbage when we check out. I stayed at airbnb many times even never asked to take garbage out. what's the point paying for the cleaning?
Very close to the airport
Beautiful view and cozy rooms
they really maximized the storage space in the room in a way that you don’t fill it’s taking space from the actual room size
Breakfast is absolutely delicious it is in my top 3 of all the breaks fast I did around the world quality and choice
The overall customer service is fantastic
I advise to book activities though the hotel as they are dealing with the best tour operators so yes it might be a little more expensive but worth it.
The hotel, village and the activities are conveniently located in a walking distance. a lot of things to do including the official Santa clause office. it is free entry to meet Santa. we paid only for the gifts and the photo/video online album. it’s a memorable experience specially if you have kids. the room is equipped with a private sauna and kitchenette, microwave, cooker etc. it’s very spacious and comes with a balcony. You can experience 365 days of Christmas here
It was outstanding! We enjoyed the stay a lot, we had everything we needed in that room: good tasty food. There was no staff there because it's an apart hotel, but we can say that they organized our room in a cosy way. Everything was available.
The staff wrote a very kind note that I took as a souvenir. We really loved to stay there... We loved every single detail and we thank everyone who made an effort to make it as cosy as possible!
We had a wonderful stay in the chalet. The location is nice and quiet, it's cozy and the view of the frozen lake is beautiful. We even got to see the northern lights! Easy check-in. About 20 min drive from Rovaniemi city, so better if you have a rental car (which I generally recomment when going to this area). We even took a typical Finnish ice bath and went to the outdoor jacuzzi afterwards - what a great experience!
Responsive and kind staff accepted my packages and helped with declaration and delivery of one of them from the post office. This hotel exceeded my expectations compared to other more expensive hotels we stayed in Santa Claus Village near Rovaniemi. Caring staff, excellent breakfast, even with the fresh berries, location right next to the city center beautifully decorated for Christmas. We enjoyed being there.
The room was small but very comfortable. The bed was very nice. The wi-fi was great. What makes this hotel so special are the staff. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. It is in a nice location in the city with many amenities nearby. I especially enjoyed being able to go to the nearby Fitness Center which they have an arrangement with. Also, parking in the garage next door is free - very convenient!
A great location in the centre of town with a park for kids outside. Sledding and an ice rink in the park! It was a perfect place to stay.
Clean and warm. Warm being very important in December in Finland!
Lots of space in the apartment and a great host. We could not have asked for anything more from Joel. We (family of 4 with 2 kids aged 4 & 8) recommend very highly.
I liked that the property wasn’t in downtown Rovaniemi, but still close enough. The property had E-bikes to rent that I did rent for 75 euros for the day or. 50 euros for 3 hrsg. My room was very clean, bed comfortable just wish more pressure from the shower, just a personal preference. Hotel very quiet. Breakfast was exceptional. I recommend staying at this hotel.
Service team of the Hotel is very helpful. They provided a Birthday greeting card and candies to welcome my daughter's stay to celebrate her birthday.
They also helped us call taxi to Rovaniemi city centre.
The Hotel is close to the Santa Claus Village for day-tour. Stand outside the Hotel Room can take Northern Light with easy.
This is a self catering apartment block behind one of the main hotels in downtown Rovaniemi, and is a budget option.
I knew it was a budget option, in a city where budget options other than shared dorms are few, and I got what I paid for. I have no complaints at all. Affordable, well-located and secure. It did the job
Host - Alice is kind, humble & helpful giving all details possible to enjoy Rovaniemi be it a visit to Santa Claus Village or chasing the Northern Light.
Location - Walkable distance to City Center, Train Station & Bus Station.
Hotel - Clean & well maintained with all possible facilities available.
There was no breakfast although it is stated on booking.com that there is a breakfast. There is only public shower facility which is not at all convenient. The location is bad because you can only reach there via taxi which is expensive. However, for the cheap prices it is not too bad.
The apartment was perfect for our stay in rovaniemi, its an easy walk into the town centre, the apartment was clean and warm, the sauna was great, the TV was great. The hosts were brilliant, giving very clear instructions. If you want somewhere to stay in rovaniemi, this is the place!
The hotel is well located, in the center of Rovaniemi with easy access to restaurants, public transport, supermarket.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Very good breakfast with wide choice between European breakfast and local products.
Great hotel in the middle of Rovaniemi. Comfy beds and all helpful team. Parking free of charge. One of the best breakfast buffets we ever experienced. We have been staying here for the fourth time and will always gladly return.
