I was on a walking holiday, staying in a different place every night for 15 nights: meaning that I have a lot to compare it to. Jean made the stay special. The house was full of character and I felt like I was staying in a chateau. The bed was clean and comfortable, I had a good night’s sleep and the breakfast was great – all the things you really want. I liked the terrace, looking out at horses in paddocks.

Situated in a residential neighbourhood, Mercure Royal Fontainebleau is 500 meters from the castle and its gardens and 10 minutes' drive from the train station.

AC did not work properly and Coffee machines were certainly not made for the heavy duty of a hotel and caused permanent problems no gym

Very spacious room, huge bed, really nicely presented, and we had a balcony. There was a bidet in the bathroom which is also a nice bonus. More importantly, there was a free EV charger at the hotel parking which was excellent. It needs to be added to the hotel description! The swimming pool and the sauna were also lovely to relax in.

Great location, nice staff.

The restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and all at a reasonable price too. The room was clean and very quiet. Unfortunately, we did not have breakfast because we had to leave early to be on time for our ferry, but the smell of the croissants baking made us regret such an early start

Thé gîte was tiny, & easy to find. Street parking okay. A pretty little courtyard ( although it was below freezing in our stay in January) a pretty stone fireplace. A nice bath, fortunately.
