Set in Machynlleth, in a historic building, 38 km from Aberystwyth Golf Club, The Old Vicarage B&B, Corris is a recently renovated guest house with a garden and bar.

Great location and hosts, could not do enough for us, a great knowledge of local spots and places to visit. Room was great and so were the views from our window overlooking a natural steam, shower room was massive and overall everything was spotless. Breakfast was great and no request for something different was a problem.

Great, friendly place, with excellent pub at the end of the street. The Abergynolwyn railway station has a good cafe, which opens at 10 am (useful if you you want something hot for breakfast and don't want to have to clean the kitchen at the last minute). You can get beans or scrambled eggs on toast or bacon and/or sausage sandwiches. The filter coffee was really rather good. It closes a little after the last train pulls in. There are a series of walks that you can undertake, based on the Talyllyn stations, some circular, others from one station to another. There are buses to Tywyn, Dolgellau and Machynlleth. The Minffordd path to Cader Idris about 10 minutes drive. The circular walk to Castell y Bere is a real treat, and you should pop into St Michael's church, especially to see the diorama. Personally, I would avoid Tywyn because it looks run-down, but you may have to go there to get milk and firewood.

We were given the wrong pin number for the key safe so couldn't get in straight away. Having travelled approx. 300 miles we then spent an hour or so trying to get into the property. I phoned the number given but had to leave messages. Once we entered the property we were extremely disappointed. No TV. It felt damp, looked unkept & a bit scruffy. There was a rip in the material on the armchair & wasn't at all what we expected.

Oh my days you have to eat at the ‘cafe’ ... the lady running it is a culinary whizz - her puddings are to die for - seriously delicious . Abergynolwn is a really friendly place - I went on my own and was welcomed everywhere. Scenically it is stunning - dramatic landscapes, in fact when I arrived my spirits suddenly lifted . It’s awesome. I love Wales anyway but this place is something else. I stayed at the Riverside B&B which was full of charm, warmth and welcome. The hosts are pretty unique - absolutely brimming with knowledge and stories and fascinating insights. I loved them. They made me feel content . And happy. I will be going back again and again and again .
