Very pleasant stay. The landlady was kind to order a taxi as the inn was still too far away to reach in time in the evening from Hadrian´s Wall. Great evening meal and breakfast. Very comfortable beds and a fantastic bathroom.

The whole package! Carolyn and her husband exceptional hosts, quiet location with beautiful views, breakfasts perfect. As I was cycling,I asked for directions from several people, but the best I was given was to walk along the side of the dual carriageway ! I later discovered,by myself a bridleway that went straight to the foot of the village, although the pub itself is still some distance uphill and not signposted. The pub itself is obviously an old property, the room was basic, the breakfast was already in the room in a small fridge. The cereal was ok as was the coffee, but the yogurt was off. Another cyclist I met,was surprised that the pub was accepting guests. It could be so much better with a little effort,I had to wait till I passed a small retail outlet,to have a more substantial breakfast.

Restaurant not available at the hotel although advertised. was advised there was nowhere nearer than Hexham to get an evening meal. Acomb is a pretty village with good walks if travelling with dog. would not stay at the same hotel again.

Acomb is quiet and five minutes drive from Hexham or Hadrian's Wall and Northumbria is on the doorstep. It has 4 pubs, three in the village and one just outside. I tried 2 pubs and they were welcoming and reasonable. There is a fish and chip takeaway towards the end of the week at the side of the Queen Arms
