The location was excellent and easy to find, lovely walk around the yacht club, excellent coffee/food place in the yacht club, also a massive bar with lovely staff in the hotel, staff all so lovely, lots of smiles and polite, would definitely recommend.

The Ferryboat Inn on the furthest edge of Hayling Island was really good, excellent customer service and a great menu. Lovely views of the water. Lots of places to eat in the area and fantastic walks and views. Very windy when we were there - to be expected on the coast. Lots of boats and windsurfing to watch. We went on the little Hayling Island train - lovely!

We liked the outside view, great for sunrises and sunsets.
We liked the outside view, great for sunrises and sunsets.
The tea room with the fireplace was very cozy. The power shower in the room was very nice.
The hand-wash and body wash - the bottles were reused and one was dented. Very unhygienic. The spare blanket in the wardrobe was thrown onto the floor with no cover. The tea cups were dirty. No menus in the room. The room we were given hadn't been serviced in a long time. The strip that closed the wardrobe door was broken. It was only when we changed rooms that some of those things were rectified. We will not be returning. The receptionists were not interested in good customer service.

A well presented old hotel with lots of history and in parts has been kept in original condition, a smell of musty books is all around but not unpleasant as this enchanting place is centuries old, staff are friendly and on hand and food is tasty and well prresented, car park is a good size and free. However the room stayed in was slanted and repairs needed, otherwise a fair stay for the price, be wary of lots of walking stairs and noisy at night.

Havant is more of a staging post to visit other places. it has a reasonable shopping area with reasonable forms of transport available as in bus and train service.
I was using it to visit people during the time of a funeral and so it worked for me in that way

A lovely town centre market on Saturday and lots of shops.
A lovely town centre market on Saturday and lots of shops. Several nice pubs serving food. Lively evening atmosphere. Large superstores near by. Lovely public park. Friendly people. Beautiful traditional buildings with pantiled roofs and a very historic feel to the town. We ate at Wetherspoons in the town centre as most people seemed to do. food and drink were excellent and good value. If we find a Wetherspoons in a different town which is a hotel we would definitely choose to stay in one.

Central parking is very good giving easy access to all local facilities. For those who wish to shop there are a lot of varied retail outlets conveniently close together. In addition there is an abundance of different style eating places to choose from.
The pedestrianised area, quiet side roads and little alleys and footpaths give it a very relaxed feel.
There are plenty of interesting old buildings and architecture here and the detailed historical sign boards and wall plaques are absolutely excellent. A little oasis for the casual walker. We loved the wonderful old oak beamed pubs and inns which are beautifully run and maintained. A credit to their brewery owners and staff.
The Bear hotel is conveniently situated for trips into Portsmouth to the Historic Dockyard or to Southsea D Day Museum.
Although the decor is a little tired the amenities were good and the parking was right outside once you negotiate the one way back streets to the car park. There was a good selection of meals for dinner.
Breakfast was buffet style with the option of a full English breakfast.
The room was comfy but not lavish and there was plenty of hot water for showers or a bath.
Aside from the confusion on our first dinner experience the dinner was 9/10 on the first night only because it was completely under seasoned and 10/10 on the second night we had dinner at the hotel. Very delicious food, cooked excellent! Would highly recommend booking in to eat dinner here.
Kudos to the attentive restaurant seating/ floor manager on evening of 27.08.21 who made sure we finally got our food and stayed to ensure the steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare. Thank you.
we checked in at 1am and was met with a friendly night manager. the following morning we had a lovely breakfast. the staff again were very friendly and helpful. upon check out we required assistance with our vehicle. Main reception sent out Dave the hotels maintenance man. He, again, was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to get us sorted for our journey home.
We often visit the Bear as we enjoy the food and ambience. This was our first time staying. The food as always was delicious and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
I requested a room in the old part of the hotel and we weren’t disappointed. The floor had its quirk of sloping and we had the charm of beams as well. The bed was very comfortable.
We have stayed a number of times at the Bear Hotel. The breakfast and the dinner meals have always been very good. The location is good, free parking and the railway station is ten minutes walk if you want to use the train to get to Brighton, Portsmouth or London.
We have stayed at The Langstone many times in the past and therefore noticed many of the refurbishments made around the communal areas. This hotel is good at keeping up its standards.
The refurbishments of the rooms on the west wing are exceptionally good.
Great hotel in lovely location. Have stayed many times and love coming back here. We also like the Ship Inn which is about a 20 minute walk up the lane and across the bridge. The staff and breakfast are great and the views are excellent too.
The Bear Hotel is ideally situated for access to Hayling island, Portsmouth, Southsea, Chichester and many other places inland and by the sea. The breakfast was fabulous and all the staff we met were very sociable and extremely helpful.
Lovely hotel ,friendly staff only problem was on new year's eve when there was no hot water for a shower ,but probably due to the hotel being full as not a problem on the previous days, lovely leisure facilities ,all in all a great stay
Really good value for money. We needed a comfortable, clean bed and a location not far from Portsmouth. Staff were very helpful. Hotel situated in the centre of Havant and within walking distance to shops and amenities.
Comfortable bed, good food, bottle of perry, quality toiletries. The hotel is easy to reach by bus from Havant station. The staff were friendly and dealt quickly with issues that arose among my group.
Location very nice, hotel if looking a little tired. Breakfast excellent in airy dining room, with good views across the water. Friendly staff with a well stocked bar, even if the service is slow.
Beds were very good, rooms spotless and a decent size, exceptionally well located in central Havant with rooms back from the road, well insulated and hence quiet
We stay every year and love the hotel; the location is great as a base to walk from or visit Portsmouth. Staff are lovely and it makes a lovely weekend venue.
