The breakfast was alright, keeping in mind this was my first hotel stay in almost 20 years so I can't really compare, it had all the basic breakfast needs met.

Great staff. Had a bit of trouble finding the place to check in though. Lovely little extras like biscuits, milk, water. Spotless clean. Great shower as well.

The hotel staff. Always polite willing to help when needed.
Nothing was to much trouble
All they seem to be eager to do was to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Would stay in this hotel again.

I love staying here its my favourite hotel when we travel to this area for any reason and never book anywhere else been coming here for years. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. We held our mother's 90th birthday here and our 35th Wedding Anniversary a few years ago brilliant. We love the train station down the road and the village is in easy walking distance. There's a great little shop Norths near the railway bridge with wonderful treats and café worth a visit .

I was very much surprised, in a good way with the hotel.
I was very much surprised, in a good way with the hotel.
My single room was on the 2nd floor, which had spectacular views of the garden and the water feature. I wish I could have stayed longer!
The bathroom was a little outdated but clean and functional.
The floors throughout the hotel were very squeaky, which may only disturb you if you were a light sleeper.
I would certainly stay here again, staff were lovely, breakfast was awesome and the scenery was delightful!

Very pretty part of Leicestershire.
Very pretty part of Leicestershire. Absolutely NO MOBILE SIGNAL so you can hardly book a taxi except from a landline. Some people will love the fact that there's no mobile signal lol. Very good access to Swithlands, where we had a family wedding.

Both dinners in the restaurant were excellent, served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Rooms were good, our room lock failed on second day so w were moved to another room. This was handled quickly and efficiently so no complaints. The Wi-Fi in the hotel was not working which was the only inconvenience.

First impression counts, hence our Room not having a phone, a TV remote control and the main lamp on the table not working reflects in our rating. Housekeeping should make a final check to ensure guests ' comfort.
All these were corrected as soon as the issues were raised. So top service from staff in front office. The hotel has some lovely grounds...very calming.
We attended a wedding there for the weekend and were in the annexe, not the main hotel. Beds were comfortable but there is no soundproofing between rooms - we could literally hear every word from the room next to us! The breakfast was great and wedding meal reasonable. Beautiful old building in a gorgeous setting.
The breakfast was lovely, the staff were helpful/ The building and surroundings are lovely. Our room was a little tired and the ensuite had some damp but it looked as though the hotel is in the process of updating. The history of the property is fascinating
The hotel is old and quirky. We had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the garden and terrace at the side of the property. Good size room. Extremely comfortable bed. Good sized bathroom. Good facilities.
As it was for a wedding. It was fine. Not keen on the stairs in the main hotel no hand rail due to the ribbon on it. I felt really uneasy on the stairs
