WOW what an amazing place to stay! It is located on a hill in a very quiet and scenic spot. We kindly got upgraded to stay in a gorgeous 2-bedroom villa which was modern, spacious, clean, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We loved our infinity pool and the views out to the ocean and other islands were absolutely stunning. The hosts were so lovely - at check-in they made sure we had everything we needed and gave us so many home-cooked Grecian treats and plenty of bottled water - it was so kind! We cannot recommend this place enough - such a peaceful and beautiful home to stay at!

Fly to Athens (ATH), Greece, then take a domestic flight to Naxos (JNX), approximately 45 minutes. From Naxos, take a ferry to Koufonisia, around 3 hours. Alternatively, direct ferries from Athens (Piraeus port) to Koufonisia take about 7 hours.
The most convenient airport for Koufonisia is Naxos Island National Airport, due to its proximity (approximately 40km) and frequent domestic flights. For international travellers, Athens International Airport is best, with onward domestic connections.
Koufonisia, Greece, lacks public transport. However, its small size makes it easily navigable on foot or by bicycle. Bike rentals are readily available for visitors. For longer distances, water taxis operate between the islands. Driving isn't recommended due to the limited road network. Always verify the operating hours of local services.
Chora, the main village in Koufonisia, is the best area to stay. It offers convenient access to stunning beaches, local eateries, and shops. The area is popular for its traditional Greek charm and picturesque views.

It’s a beautiful island with fantastic beaches. Best time to visit would be September or June if you want a quieter holiday. The coast is flat so you can cycle quite a bit. There are regular boats to the beaches - an all day ticket costed 2.50€.

Hop on hop off to kato koufonisia and other beaches of the islands for 10 euro per day.
Friendly people all around. Fresh fish of top quality and selection
We rented a scooter that has proven to be a necessity.
There are also electrical assisted bikes.
Food prices at taverns in general are acceptable.
We could gladly have stayed more than 3 days.

I thought it would be quieter but it appears that Koufonisia has become more popular. We had to go to Kato Koufonisia almost everyday of our stay just to have a quiet and relaxing beach time. The hike was easy, a bit more tiring from the heat but it's worth it.

Lovely island for people who like walking, beaches and a relaxed pace of life without planning much. The island gets busy in mid-July to end of August so I wouldn't choose to go then. I think 3-5 days are best, many people also visit on a day trip.

Very small island. You can walk it.
Very small island. You can walk it. Furthest beach is 1 hour and a half scenic walk along the coast passing many other beaches. The port is the only town on the island. It has a nice ‘chora’ with surprisingly many restaurants and shops. Town is very clean with beautifully paved roads. Very much an upmarket feel to it, but no upmarket attitude, which is a plus. Quiet place. Not for party animals.
There will likely never be a hotel that I stay at that I will love as much as I love this place. The feeling of sitting on the porch and listening to the waves crash with the gentle breeze hitting you <3 My experience here will stick with me forever. It is perfectly placed to be maybe 7 minutes walk to the main part of town and 10 minutes walk in the other direction to some fantastic beaches. The room has everything you could need, and the porch with its accompanying view is all you could wish for! 100000/10 - simply amazing !!!
Breakfast was bought by me at the supermarket just down the road. I had delicious Greek yogurt and honey every day! I loved everything about my stay and my room with its small private balcony overlooking the beautiful ocean. I was there for 15 days in the off season. I’ve never known such peace and rest. I especially loved this island. I especially appreciate my wonderful hosts Angelica and Nikitas, they work hard and run a perfect property, every detail is thought of. They are exceptionally lovely people.
The Island is just fabulous. The water is amazing and the place is very quite and peaceful.
The receptionist was wonderful and very helpful. She was the sweetest and was always trying her best to make us comfortable during our stay. She gave us also amazing tipps and all were exactly as she described.
I loved staying in the hotel and specially on this island. I would definitely go back there again and i only can recommend this amazing island and hotel.
Amazing place to stay in Koufonisia! We had a wonderful experience. Sofia runs this place with so much positive energy, attention to detail and hospitality. She'd show up with delicious food surprises, for example home made spinach pie, desserts, ice cream and fruit bowls. Overall service and cleanliness was amazing and the location was ideal, close to restaurants and beaches while maintaining a feeling of privacy and escape. Highly recommended!
Lovely quiet location up the hill overlooking the smaller harbour on the island. The hosts met us at the docks off our ferry to drive us to the accommodation and show us around. They also gave us excellent food and activity recommendations on the island. About a 10 minute walk into town but pretty views along the way and a nice way to digest after a big dinner! Would definitely recommend it and would happily stay there again
Location is perfect, the hotel is in front of a beautiful beach and walking distance to the Chora. You can take a boat from the beach to the other beaches of the island.
The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are big and decorated with handmade, unique furnitures and items. There is a big balcony in front of a garden full with trees and flowers.
Breakfast is great, in the restaurant by the beach.
It is paradise.
We liked the room's size and balcony overlooking the pool and sea. The breakfast was adequate and what I would normally eat during summer time when it's hot. We would appreciate a nespresso machine in the room. We appreciated the provision of parasol and pick up and drop off service to and from the port. Overall, at the time of booking this seemed to be the best option on the island.
This property is delightful. The owners are on site and you can tell. Excellence is in the details and they deliver. Views are fabulous, location prime. Breakfast is high quality. Rooms are very clean and the staff are tremendous. Friendly, fun and knowledgeable. This is the best hotel on our stay to date. Koufanisia is a hidden gem. Do not hesitate to book this hotel.
So clean, beautiful rooms with lots of space to eat, lounge, lie out. The view is incredible and the breakfast was delicious!
The room has a safe large enough for a laptop, and Giorgio’s kindly drove us to and from ferry port. During stay, we rented e-bikes to easily tour around island.
To wake up to that view and the beautiful room every day was amazing.
Best sleep ever, excellent mattresses. The terrace was extremely pleasant, with built bunk sofa, thick shade and a soothing breeze. The terrace everyone dreams of having at home.
Very kind and helpful owner, and cleaning lady. The owner bought our bags to the port so we were free to enjoy the island between checkout and the ferry departure.
I stayed on Koufinisia for 6 nights with my husband. We were picked up by car at the Ferry on arrival and at departure. I thought this was very sweet as you are not allowed to rent a car on the island. The hotel was very comfortable and had everything you need and more for a nice holiday on Koufinisia! Thank you for everything!
Perfect location, incredibly clean w great pool and view, great breakfast, and helpful staff. Port is close but they still provide transportation at no charge to and from port which is great. Most relaxing part of the Greek Islands.
If you’re looking for a comfortable, clean, and welcoming hotel with outstanding staff and delicious breakfast options, I highly recommend the Utopia Hotel. We can’t wait to stay there again on our next visit.
Great place to stay with great hospitality, very clean, quiet and enjoyable
Our car broke down, the owner of the hotel was so kind to help us; we cannot wait to come back next year.
Wonderful hotel located above the port. Mr Lemonis the owner was extremely welcoming and friendly, a true gentleman, you will love your stay here and on this beautiful island
