Amazing place, just wow. The location is stunning, and the staff was super friendly and hospitable. The dinner and breakfast were just superb, many tasty and local dishes! A hot onsen on premise rounded off a perfect stay. Would have loved to stay longer.

It was my third time staying in an R9 hotel. They’re always clean and comfortable. Desk space, a microwave and fridge. The frozen light dinners are decent (and free) and coffee is surpassingly good. Heating/aircon works well. If you’re passing through and need a basic comfortable place to stay it’s perfect. If you’re cycling you can keep your bike in your room.

Excellent stay! Great deal for that price. 10-15mins by walk from Yokoku station, so it was easy to travel to Beppu or other cities. Also close to the Hiji Castle ruins, where you can take a walk by the sea. The area was super quite but with great places to eat. The staff was very nice and spoke english. Excellent breakfast for 500yen/person. Totally reccomend!!

The accommodation was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen facilities were excellent. There were shops and restaurants a short walk away. The most impressive for me however, was the host Ken, and his wife. They were very kind and friendly, and more than willing to help with any local information I needed. He gave recommendations for restaurants and for sightseeing in the beautiful town of Kitsuki. Ken went out of his way to help me when my travel plans went awry due to some serious weather conditions - thanks again for your kindness. I would highly recommend Guesthouse Return for anyone staying in the area.
