The chalet area was very beautiful when it snowed, and there are shuttles transporting you to the lobby and also main parts of the resort including the skiing area. The East and West side both have their separate ski/snowboarding equipment rental shops so you don't have to go one end to the other. For our stay and skiing, we spent most of our time at the West side and that was also sufficient as our family was mostly beginners.
For food options the Mall and its surrounding shops nearby which can be accessible via shuttle bus was also very convenient and we had some really good food as well. Even the Mall food court was also very good with its options for dinner (but do go early as they close by 7pm). The surrounding restaurants, which was also really nice close later at 8pm++.
Overall, we had a really good and memorable experience staying at this resort and would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone else.

I came to the town last year just after the snowy winter.
I came to the town last year just after the snowy winter. As I was not a skier, the snow was just fit for me and the town was not fully crowded with skiers. So the town gave me a peaceful yet cool feeling. This year, I came to the town after visiting kusatsu onsen and appreciated the full bloom of the cherry trees along the way. Karuizawa had not many cherry trees but the few ones were still blooming, good enough for the young couples to take wedding pictures. Not many visitors during my stay but was good enough to really relax myself and had a long coffee break at Sawamura Roastery.

Karuizawa offers an amazing small town charm with excellent food, friendly people, and accessible nature. Definitely check out the Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel tour to view Musasabi! The only downside to this beautiful town is that it's a bit more pricey than the rest of Japan.

We would definitely go back.
We would definitely go back. Just around an hour by Shinkansen from Tokyo, Karuizawa is the perfect place if you want the laid-back, nature-embraced, old-town feel. Just strolling around town is cool enough but they have a lot of museums and galleries too, that the whole family enjoyed! Also got to try skiing for the first time. Overall, this is one place that we will always be included if we go in the Tokyo area again in the future.

A wonderful destination if you like fresh mountain air, lovely tree-lined roads, cycling, etc. Many useful bus routes and also Shinano Railway next to the Shinkansen that goes to Naka-Karuizawa and way beyond. Note that many restaurants close early, especially out of season. Many well-known restaurants need a booking.

Should spend more days in Karuizawa town.
Should spend more days in Karuizawa town. There is a Skiing sport just beside the Prince town outlets and worth for beginner to try and have fun. Walking distance to the old town bring different experiences and its very nice to try walk around and try the foods there. Its worth to go for a relax place. If more days , can travel down to the other town in Karuizawa for skiing and sight seeing. Awesome place to explore.

A European town in a forested mountainous region not far from Kusatsu, Shima onsen, or Tokyo.
The hot springs aren’t anything special but the mountainous scenery and delicious French/Italian food can be a nice change from the usual Tokyo bustle.
Autumn colours are nice, especially just north towards mount Asama.
We loved everything!! If you’re traveling by car, this is the place for you. The location is close to all the little attractions and they offer free parking. There is a private onsen (2 of them, actually) that we absolutely loved! The rooms are spacious, extremely clean, and they have floor heating. I would say the best part of the stay was the host, who was incredibly welcoming and friendly (even though our Japanese was very very limited). Don’t forget to get the breakfast option, I promise you will not regret it :)
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The design is impressive, creating a pleasant atmosphere throughout. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable, and the staff members are friendly and accommodating. For those with a car, the proximity to the outlet is a significant advantage.
Overall, the experience was well worth the money spent.
Reasonable business hotel!
The rooms are clean and bathroom is big enough. I needed a cheap accomodation for one night in Karuizawa, and it was very good. Breakfast is ok too. Staff was very kind and welcoming. Check-in was fast and efficient!
I walked from Karuizawa station, 20-25min depending on your walking pace.
Chris was an amazing host. Peaceful.and laid back without all the usual stickiness and formalities associated with Japan hotels. Yes I get that everything runs like clockwork and they follow timing to the tee, but when you're on holiday early check ins and late check outs are god send.
We met MR CHRIS working at this hotel who is very helpful and make it easy for first time traveller like us to Karuizawa. He briefed in english and understand what needed and take care of us well during our stay. We managed to delivery items to home and book taxi with his guidance.
great location and staff are all super helpful and friendly. Sato San at the Hotel East was extremely welcoming and helpful. he send us back to our cottage although he was very busy and he is very professional, always with a cheerful smile!
The hotel receptionist: was friendly and accommodating.
The bed: was very comfortable.
The location: was convenient, just a few minute walk to Kyu Karuizawa and Karuizawa station.
We will definitely stay here again in the near future. :)
The lovely wood cabin is spotless (like most Japanese hotels) and has everything you need for a short stay. Very close to the Karuizawa outlet and train station, I guess it's the best choice for most travellers.
Quite near to Karuizawa Station. Twin beds are big. Staff are friendly and helpful. Walking distance to train station, Prince Shopping, Karuizawa old Ginza Shopping and Kumoba Pond.
Scandi and open design for common areas
7/11 is next door (close at 11pm)
Free shuttle bus in Hoshino area (less frequent in day time though)
Hotel guest discount for Hoshino onsen
A traditional Ryokan with nice Japanese decors&ambience , easy walking to shops & restaurants in Ginza-Karuizawa.
The rooms(3) are clean & cozy.
Very helpful and kind staffers .
The hotel is conveniently located - with only a few minutes walk from the Karuizawa Station. Since we visited in low season (March), the room was very fairly priced.
Location is about 10mins walk from Karuizawa station. Kumoba pond is about 15mins walk from the Hotel. Staff were very helpful and could speak bit of English.
The tent we stayed at was small but it was still comfortable to stay for one night. We liked bbq, it was a feast and we could not finish eating them all.
