It's a great small town that has many of the amenities only larger cities in Hokkaido would have. They have a wonderful grocery store in Tobu South Hills Mall and also in that same area is Hanamaru Sushi which is a branch of the famous Nemuro Conveyor belt suchi restaurant. They also have the cheapest gas I've ever found in Hokkaido at around 10 yen cheaper than anywhere else. It's the ENOS station off of route 272 going towards the coast. This town is also located near 2 big birding towns in winter. Nemuro and Rausu are a short 1hr drive from this town where you can sea eagles up close. This place is also located near Notsuke Penninsula where a lot of wildlife can be seen.
