Real fine little city, calm and cozy atmosphere, kind of slow-paced urban lifestyle, and kind of richness in culture. Beautiful architecture with old-time details, an awesome treat for the eyes!
Everything is within a nice walking distance, And the Castle on the sea-shore is simply stunning.

Kalmar is a nice city.
Kalmar is a nice city. The old city walls and the castle give it a good feel. It's easy to take a day trip to Öland from here. I wouldn't recommend this during the fall season as it gets quite cold and windy. I must recommend the restaurant E.A.T.. This restaurant has very heartwarming staff and a great atmosphere.

The guides were very acquainted with the history of the castle and entertaining at the same time specially with the children. We saw the Vasa exhibition, the castle is well preserved and we went 2 times to see it all. Very good experience.

This was my second time in Kalmar and for the second time I went to Ernesto's Italian Restaurant and had a most excellent meal with very good service. Kalmar is a town with lots of history and historic sites, to be contrasted with the modern university. The Slottshotel was very pleasant and located close to the old centre of the town. The weather could have been better but it was December. The old squares, the watch tower and the castle are all delightful. Kalmar is easy to get around though a car is a bit of a nuisance in the old centre. There are many local buses and a train service to a number of main locations including Copenhagen and Kastrup

It was my first visit to Kalmar.
It was my first visit to Kalmar. Stayed there for 4 days to visit my son who just started at Linné University. The atmosphere of the city gave the impression of a calm which I greatly appreciated. Easy to get around almost everywhere by bike and bus. All preserved old buildings, the water tower, the greenery etc made this one of my absolute favorite Swedish cities. The best way to learn more about Kalmar is to walk!
Historic building with lots of charm in a park like environment. The castle is a short 5 min walk through the park away. Old town Kalmar is also very close, I would say about a 10 minute walk to the old city wall.
The room was charming with a nice view of the park. There is a nice bar at the premises where we enjoyed some drinks after the free dinner buffet. The breakfast in the morning was awesome. I would definitely recommend and return the next time I am in Kalmar.
The hotel has its room distributed over several properties, with the main reception, common area, restaurants etc in the middle of it. The hotel even provided complimentary soup and salad for dinner. Breakfast was also very nice. Old town and the main bus station and train station are 10-15 minute by foot, the castle is basically next door. So pretty centrally located as well.
The hotel's location was great, room was a good size and it was facing the back of the building, so no noise from the restaurants in the plaza (and there were graduation parties there!!!). Breakfast was excellent and the staff very helpful. The dinner we had at the hotel's restaurant was one of the best we had during our trip - definitely worth a try!
Extremely convenient, big, a perfectly clean studio apartment. Vey well equipped kitchen. Free parking in a side street directly opposite the hotel. Highly useful location (despite rather uniteresting direct surroundings): relatively close from the highway exit, but quiet and within ca. 15-minute walk from the Kalmar centre and castle.
Nice and clean apartment in villa area. Bed sheets were provided but bedmaking were for the guests to do themselves. Main issue was the location. While it is advertised as "cozy apartments in Kalmar centre", it was in fact located more than 30 minutes walk from the centre. Very inconvenient for someone without a car.
The hotel is located conveniently outside old town of Kalmar. It is right by a nice walk by the sea with lots birds and swans. High recommend to go for a walk along the lake (sea). The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room and bedding are spotless clean. I'd definitely come back and stay again.
If I'm every unsure of which hotel to pick or I don't find any particularly good options, I definitely go for Scandic. Scandic is not "very cheap" but you definitely get good value for the money. Breakfast is spot on as always, rooms are clean, beds comfortable. They're just an overall nice experience.
An error by the booking agency resulted in the hotel holding two rooms for me instead of one. The hotel staff reviewed the emails between myself and the booking agent and actually contacted the agent on my behalf to correct and I was not charged for the second room. The breakfast buffet was great.
The hotel’s commitment to sustainability and being Green” was only one thing we appreciated and liked. The place is newly renovated and we’ll done in that respect. The location was fabulous, within walking distance of the Kalmar Slott, old town and the Cathedral. And, it’s on the water.
Good location in the city, even if not perfectly central. Several restaurants around the hotel which has itself a restaurant. The reception ladies (same as bar) were nice. Room was good, interesting to see the old heating system inside. Had a good night sleep. Breakfast was good.
Super helpful staff and nice hotel in central Kalmar. My mom has mobility problem. So we asked rooms that can be close to each other and we have been offered one upgraded room which convenient for us as family with young kids.
Very near bus and train central station and all the important or historical places in Kalmar City! Their very own restaurant which is also located in the hotel is amazing! And, the breakfast buffet is fantastic!👍🏻
It was very conveniently located for the main sights of Kalmar and as short drive from the town, the owners were very accommodating and helpful. Parking reasonably convenient and free. Local shops were nearby.
Kalmar is a beautiful city and the hotel is in a superb location for arrival (train) and walking around the city. The hotel has great style, great catering and genuinely friendly staff
Great room, super clean, quiet and comfortable. Fabulous breakfast. Excellent location. Even an onsite charger for my electric car. by far the best value of my Sweden trip.
Great location with walking distance to tons of restaurants and easy drive to Kalmar Castle and Öland. Good breakfast. Big snd fluffy towels in the bathroom.
