Fort Portal was unusually hot, but whole of Uganda was hot during this period. We visited a tea estate which was so beautiful and neatly maintained. The town was clean and all the city roads are paved. They should improve the first portion of Bundi Bujoi road which is unkempt. lots and lots to see and do if you are into wildlife, history and general interest. Kibale Nat Park, Semliki Nat Park, Rwenzori Nat Park are all within commutable distance. If you have time you can even do a day trip to Queen Elzabeth Park but you will need avery early start. Fort Portal centre of town is being re-tarmacked so quite dusty but it will be nice when the works are finished. Gardens Restaurant has fantastic a la carte and large portions. It’s an excellent destination in Uganda. I hadn’t been there for years. A lot has changed. The tea plantations are a breath taking. The park, and lots of other things. I didn’t have time to tour: Although the town is neglected within it, the roads are terrible.

It is pretty town with a cool climate. Nice to roam around town Some good restaurants serving delicious food. The tea gardens outside of town are very scenic. Chimpanzees can be seen in their natural habitat about 30 po outside the town.

We stop in Fort Portal because the trip from Kampala with local bus was too long and uncomfortable and our final destination was still 3 hours away. But then we used Fort Portal as a main station for the rest of our trip. There are many places in the surrounding area that you can visit but you definitely need a car. The city itself is quite chaotic but deserve to be visited to discover some locals shops.MarcoItaly
