“This is an amazing old farmhouse in the Black Forest, with a working farm and the most charming decor. Staying here is truly a unique experience, like going back in time. Sure there are some quirks to the old building (small room, low ceiling, etc.). But the beauty and history of the place made it by far our favourite of all the places we stayed at in Germany. The hosts are extremely kind and welcoming. The older couple don't speak much English but we managed to communicate the basics. Their son does speak English and told us a little about the history of the place, which we really appreciated. If you're interested in dinner, they serve a very generous plate of homemade ham and meat items, along with bread, cheese, honey, jam, etc. And they let you try some homemade fruit brandies and whiskey. We really enjoyed the meal, especially the homey atmosphere of the dining room. Breakfast is delicious (similar to the plate of meat and cheese we had for dinner), but with eggs made however you want them. We had an absolutely wonderful stay! P.S. If you like history, the Black Forest Open Air Museum is a short drive away and a really great place to get more of an appreciation for the history and way of life in the area. Coming from the museum to this inn was really like being able to spend a night in the museum! A real taste of living history.”
