“The whole experience was great, we were welcomed warmly. The room was quite adequate for 2 people, good shower, adequate storage. The evening meal was superb, and cooked to order. The family staff were very friendly, nothing was to much trouble. English and German were both spoken. Breakfast was great, so much choice. The dining room was well laid out with lots of art to look at. We enjoyed ourselves so much we stayed an extra night”

“We recently stayed a week at Alsace Panorama. It was a great place to stay if you want to spend time exploring Alsace. Barr is a small town close to many pretty little villages but it only takes half an hour to drive to Strasbourg. We drove to the big, weekly market at Selestat, visited a winery near Kaysersberg (recently named France’s favourite village), searched for the winery in Mittelbergheim that we visited for a wine tasting as part of a Rhine river cruise a few years ago and had a great lunch in the picturesque little village, Obernai. There is much to see nearby. Christian’s house is one of four identical buildings built recently at the end of a road high above the village, behind vineyards. You will need a car if you stay here. You can walk down to the village but the walk back is uphill and the path is quite steep. We went for daily walks around the vineyards. The view from Christian’s balcony is stunning. It overlooks the village but you can see all the way to Germany. The house is extremely well equipped with everything required for a comfortable stay. Cooking facilities were excellent. Christian was available to answer any queries we had.”

We had arrived by train so she insisted on driving us to the supermarket to buy food so we wouldn’t have to walk. She provided a nice bottle of local Riesling and some pretzels to welcome us.”
