Even though it is only a year old, the beautiful hotel was well-built to look and feel like an authentic Spanish style country hacienda. The restaurant food was very good as well. The owners and staff are very friendly and accommodating...and you can keep your room air-conditioned all night long....big bonus! Just an interesting aside...our visit was intended for me and my young adult son too search for his original birth family, from whom he was separated at age 7. The owner, Doña Ingrid, turned out to be the key we needed to locate them. Her connections with nearby local officials led us to "people who knew people"...and we located this family about an hour from the hotel. Ingrid and her husband even drove us to the remote village. Without her involvement, we never would have found the birth family...Muchas Gracias, Ingrid!!!!”

We arrived early but our bags were put away and we were invited to the roof patio. Comfy furniture lovely view, fan and a breeze! Our room was on the first floor with an enclosed balcony with chairs and a view of the lake. The enclosed balcony was a bonus from a heat and street noise perspective. The room was clean, modern, beds comfortable. Great value. We paid $75 for a room with two double beds. I had already made a reservation at another place for the next night and that place was awful! Paid $45 for a room the size of a jail cell, a fan so loud it was like sleeping next to a jet engine and the common spaces had no amenities. I even went back to Casazul to see if we could get a room there but they were booked. Really liked this place.”

The a/c in the room was a wonderful treat because it can be VERY hot and humid in Flores. It is easy to arrive to the hotel, there are small boats that take you directly to the hotel (they are small and bringing a lot of luggage may be difficult) and it should only cost 5Q. The hotel has a free service to take you back to the Flores side between 6am and 9pm. Grethel's daughter kindly dropped me off at the airport, which was greatly appreciated. I cannot recommend this hotel more. I was very happy with my stay.”

“Carlos the manager was an amazing, genuinely kind person. He took extra time to help us figure out transport even after we left Mayan Spirit and were in Tikal! He also helped us out by letting us borrow his phone charger and then directing us where to buy a very inexpensive phone charger as we has forgotten ours at our previous hotel. They offer free boat service from 8 am to 10 pm from Isla Flores to the hotel which is so helpful. Rooms were perfectly clean. View was lovely. Lots of beautiful birds around. We loved it here and you won't find better hospitality than here at Mayan Spirit!”

It's perfect if you want to stay outside of busy Flores for a more quiet nights sleep, still with easy access to the island by boat, plus, you always get to see the most beautiful view of the island.
