“Breakfast and dinner were fantastic and the ladies were wonderful in explaining to us how to eat some of the food. After the first day, they were prepared with google translation! We enjoyed the interaction with the staff as much as the food! The onsen was lovely too and not too crowded during our stay. The area around the hotel is quiet and the air as fresh as you can get! Fukuroda Falls was a pleasant surprise and one can feel the care and thought put into designing and building the tunnel which leads to the waterfalls. In general, the staff at Honen Mansaku have been wonderful- very helpful and always greeted us with a big smile and welcome. Even before our stay, we have been greatly helped by Yoshiko, who recommended that we rented a car which we are very glad we did as that allowed us to travel to Mito, Hitachi Seaside Garden and Nakaminato Fish market.”

“The place had great style and very roomy compared to other guest houses I’ve stayed in. There were lots of showers and toilets available. Everything was clean. It was a bit of a walk from the station with luggage (and a slope) but still pretty close.”

“This an absolute hidden jem. It reminded me of my backpacking days, only much more classy. The whole interior design-awarded cafe is an extention of your guest room, run by the owner of the place who happens to be a published musician. The meals are also very carefully prepared. Amazing experience!”
