“The staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. With the help of the google translate app, their lack of English was not much of an issue. Fabulous traditional meals (breakfast and dinner) served at given times - even adapted to food allergies. The room had toilet facilities, but the showers are in a common bathroom, the traditional Japanese way. The pool was empty when we arrived, but miraculously filled over night. Make sure you book a rental car from Motomachi in advance , so you get to see the whole island of Izu-Oshima. It is magnificent :)”

“The owner of the house was incredibly helpful and hosptiable from the very beginning, even organizing a rental car and making dinner reservations for me. The house itself is a picture-book Japanese house with tatami mats, sliding doors, futons, house shrine, etc. in top condition and combined with modern tech sound system and Apple TV. Plus, there is a lighthouse on a hill not 10 minutes from the house where you can watch the stars, island and ocean from on clear nights. I felt perfectly at home and would highly recommend this both for lone travellers as well as groups.”
