“We decided to stay at the Willa Carpe Diem because we know the Zacopane/Kosielisko area and wanted to be very close to the beginning of the nordic ski trails in Chotarz (Kosielisko). We had our own skis, but you can rent good quality equipment right there. We had to walk about 100 meters along the main road before putting on our skis. :) As with most of the Willas (B&B) in the Zacopane area, it is a very Polish and delightful mountain experience. We didn't have a car but we knew that the local buses pass by the Willa 20 times a day and it is about 20 minutes on the bus to go into Zacopane- the main town with lots of good restaurants and very nice mountain community ambiance. To get back in the evening after the last bus we needed to take a taxi. The cost was about $15 US (metered). The architecture of the Willa is variation on the classic "Zacopane Style"- which is lovely and unique and the signature style of the region. The Willa is not "elegant." I say that because some people are looking for fancy and nothing else will do. It is very comfortable and functional. The owners of the Willa Carpe Diem did everything they could to help make our stay pleasant and efficient. I'm a language person, but my Polish is "nonexistent." They knew enough English to get us there and everyone- including the Polish guests were very respectful and open. I live in the Lake Tahoe area of California. If you know that area, then staying at the Willa Kosielisko would be like staying in a B&B in a neighborhood in Truckee. It was a great European mountain experience with an Eastern European flavor.”
