“The Shaherezade Hotel was perfect for my stay in Khiva! Located just inside the old city walls, it was just a short walk to all of the sights. The interior was lovely, Uzbek-style. “What a beautiful little oasis run by a lovely family. Mansur who runs the guesthouse is giving his very best to make your stay as comfortable as possible and is happy to help you with everything. He even gave us a ride to the train station twice, once his driver drove us to buy the train tickets and once he drove us personally on our departure day. We appreciated this very much as it was incredibly hot outside (47°) and walking there would have been quite exhausting.When we asked him how much we owed him for the ride he didn't want to accept money. If you want to visit the ruins of Elliq-Qala he provides you a half day trip with his driver (35 USD for one car, car was in a very good condition and with aircon) or a full day trip. If you are not a history freek, a half day tour is more than enough, especially if it's 50° outside ;) The rooms are spacious, traditionally decorated, the aircon works perfectly and the water pressure in the shower is great! Besides warm warer, therr is also nicely refreshing cool water available for showering. Thanks also for showing us how to make Plov and giving us a wonderful local experience sharing and eating it with you and your employees and friends in the courtyard :) It tasted delicious!”

About their internet it was brilliant in Uzbekistan. They are Music Family. Ulugbek sait us that all of them can play music but father,elder brother and Akbar they are professional music inturment players.In their hotel have Piano,Qashqar Rubab (This instrument is most lovely for them because its more than 100 years and its gift coming by music teacher of he's father ),Tar,Accordion,Doira(uzbek drum),Af gon Rubab (it means sad.Because this insturment sounds like sad voice)and others.We want to say they can play all of them and we felt that music is living in their bloods. Their mother Nigora (Boss's wife) is professional chef. She cooked for us very delicious Khorezm traditional foods for dinner and for a breakfast! About hotel is small but it was more good than Samarkand, Bukhara and Tashkent. For example when we arrived by their taxi driver to Art House Hotel Ulugbek waited us very warm.Another thing we was tired and he told us "Do you want tea for a welcoming?"we can't say no because it was very lovely! In another hotels we not hear about welcoming tea. Also they have their taxi drivers and they was safe drivers and best! We wanted to see fortresses of old Khorezm and they helped us to find taxi for this tour! Safe and cheap (i mean cheap than drivers in outside). Our bed was made every day and the dustbin emptied, first time ever after 2 weeks in Uzbekistan! The family runs a little shop in the same house, so drinks and snacks are never far :-) Our bed was very comfortable and had more luxury than any other accommodation we expected: high water pressure, good shower, welcoming water bottles next to the bed, soap and shampoo provided, super thick towels,... Breakfast was good (first time in Uzbekistan we got fresh fruits and juice!) and the location in the old town is perfect, but still away from the crowds. All guests have breakfast at one big table, so you have company and get to know interesting people. You can also enjoy homemade dinner instead of dining with the crowds in touristy places.”

“The house was super comfortable and warm, which was very important in winter! The host went through all the trouble to buy train tickets for us from Tashkent. Although there was language barrier, they still manage to have their niece to buy tickets and handed them to us at the station. We were also surprised by the hospitality of the family when they cooked us dinner at a short notice. Overall a perfect stay!”

“The breakfast was great, the location is just 1 minute walk from the main gate, while you can easily walk to the train station bus 4 costs just 1000 and passes in front of the north gate. “This re-purposed medressa near the west gate of the old city is absolutely full of atmosphere. Sparkling new refit, centuries old giant roof beams and attentive round-the-clock staff who can organize anything you need with a smile. Do not neglect to climb to the top of the hotel minaret at night or sunset! Take time to lounge in the courtyard loggia / verandah. Rooms have domed roves and our family-room was the converted mosque. The staff organised transport to and from Urgench that saved having to haggle with tourist savvy taxi touts (it nearly halved the price that of the best bargain I could get). Breakfast was a broad range of high quality choices and everyone found something they liked. This was really a great place to stay and at this price I think it would be hard to beat.”
