We really liked the quiet location just outside of Funchal. The view from the porch is stunning. You get a lot of bang for your buck in terms of space and facilities. The WIFI worked reliably and fast, because it's a regular home setup and not some flaky hotel WIFI. The kitchen is functional, well-equipped and provides you with some basics such as salt, olive oil and vinegar. Driving in Funchal is challenging. With its location outside of the city, this property is a great starting point for hikes as you don't have to drive into and out of the city every day. You can stock up on groceries once and then live comfortably without having to visit the city all the time. We loved having breakfast and dinner on the porch every day. There's even a fireplace for barbecuing. We have family in Madeira and had them over for a BBQ one night, which we all enjoyed. In the morning, lizards will be peeking out of the stone wall when the first sun rays start heating it up. During dusk and dawn you can sometimes see rabbits hopping around if you're quiet enough. The process of checking in and out worked flawlessly. You receive automated e-mails or SMS with the required information, such as the code for the keybox, and can check in without having to talk to someone. The good outweighs the bad and we look back fondly at our vacation, and we would book this property again if the cleanliness was improved.

This property is a real gem! The houses are located in a beautiful garden and are decorated with love and attention to details. Everything is sparkling clean, fresh flowers in all rooms. Owners are very nice and helpful. Breakfast is placed in the house for you and is easy to make in the morning. I recommend Casas de Pedra to everyone visiting Madeira.

The hotel sits nicely on the hill looking over the town. The center is within walking distance. Outdoor pool and jacuzzi are awesome feats when arriving after a long drive on the island. Free fruit on the premises is a funny yet pleasant surprise.

Excellent service, beautiful property and location, nice and quiet. We also loved the restaurant above the hotel, we ended getting dinner there a couple times. Definitely would recommend.
