Copperleigh Trout Cottages offers self-catering accommodation set on the banks of the trout-stocked Mavela Dam, located 30 km from the town of Howick in KZN, of which 7km is gravel road. Free WiFi is provided in all units.

A Hidden gem in the Drakensberg. Located on a tranquil trout dam, this country cabin offered breath taking views of the surrounding mountains and an incredibly peaceful atmosphere. From the moment we woke up to the sound of bird calls with sheep in the nearby fields, we knew we were  in for a special treat. The cabin itself was tastefully equipped with all the amenities we needed, super comfy warm beds, strong shower. It was clear that the owners had put a lot of thought into every detail, from the decor to the furnishings. There was plenty to do in the area, whether it was exploring the nearby hiking trails or simply relaxing on the porch and taking in the stunning scenery. Overall, I would highly recommend this country gem to anyone looking for a truly unforgettable getaway."

The beautiful scenery of mountain and wildlife while driving to the property. The cottage style and furnishings are absolutely breathtaking. The decor reflects the nature outside. In the morning you are greeted by wildlife in front of the cottage and we were able to have coffee on the stoep with deer standing on the lawn. The area offers a lot of unique dining options but should you want to you can prepare absolutely anything in the kitchen as you’ll have everything you need.

At the farm stay, some units have a private entrance, dining area, fireplace and microwave. Some of the units have a satellite flat-screen TV, a fully equipped kitchen with an oven, and a private bathroom with a bath and a hair dryer. At the farm stay, each unit includes bed linen and towels.

It's peaceful, very well appointed with everything we needed. Gas heater and loadshedding lights. Electric blankets and lovely bedding . All new gas appliances including a gas geyser, and a very convenient position for the main meander route. Really lovely people that own the cottages too. A great surprise was that the cottage now has its own wifi. I highly recommend this place for a chilled, down to earth home away from home farm stay experience.

The cottage is situated in an absolute gem of a position right on the bank of the dam and is so peaceful, well equipped and very comfortable. The cottage canoe and swimming in the dam adds another dimension. Although not far from the farmhouse, the cottage has its own space and is very private. With the tinkling of cow bells in the fields, a perfect place to relax.

Beautiful views, accommodation is clean and beds are very comfortable. Beautiful farmhouse cottage. Everything you need for self catering is available. It was easy to get access to the key as it was left on the table. The place is value for money and I would definitely recommend it.

Rural location with a great view and two short walks around the farm. Close enough to 'civilization' so that we could have our main meal at a restaurant each day. The house has EVERYTHING - dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, plenty of crockery and cutlery, great selection of books, videos and board games - home away from home without the stress! The property was also serviced daily.

We were welcomed to this huge Farmhouse with a crackling fire in the fireplace and a well stocked tea/coffee service. This was the authentic Midlands experience- waking to cows lowing and birdsong. There were lovely walks and I felt things were delivered that certainly went beyond the norm or expectation. The friendly hosts were met but not conspicuous during our stay. This was excellent value for money!

The location was great (rural), peace and tranquility, away from the busy buzzy urban life. Farm workers were very friendly. Nice giant fire-place which really helped, and firewood provided. Such a placid and serene landscape with cattle roaming around, very therapeutic.
