The environment is calm and peaceful. All the facilities were 5 star and the staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. We were fortunate to be there to see the fantastic Christmas decorations. The walk from the Swan to Lakeside was a nice stroll along a well-made path, with great scenery. I was disappointed not to have had more time to investigate further walks.

Everything worked. It’s one of those hotels that if they had a spare few million they could make it a boutique 5 star, because it needs a refurb. It’s perfectly pleasant though, we’ll ran and I am sure pos covid they are all fighting for business to survive. Room was well stocked with tea, coffee, milk, herbal teas & hot chocolate. Host Jane is very friendly and welcoming. She made me a scone with jam & clotted cream and a brew on arrival. Superb stay. However what makes this hotel outstanding is the wonderful staff. They were so friendly and welcoming (especially Gemma in the restaurant) but all gave a 5 star service.
