Unit has a separate gated entrance with a small patio with table, chairs and umbrella (which we did not use due to increment weather). Room was spacious with a dining table and 4 chairs, 2 easy chairs, a kitchen with oven, stove, fridge and a dishwasher; double bed was in the room as well. Bathroom with a nice shower. Everything very clean and practical. Breakfast (worth the extra charge) was just excellent. We had breakfast for 2 days, and each day it was different. Lots of fruit & vegetables, bread and a croissant, and a warm boiled egg or scrambled eggs, etc. Freshly squeezed fruit juice. Cheese and ham. There is a Nespresso machine with coffee in the room. And, most importantly, the hosts were very nice and attentive.

First, the facility was so comfortable and casually elegant . The staff was amazing and very attentive. The restaurant was off the charts. Had both breakfast and dinner there both days we were there.

The historic hanseatic city of Zutphen is located 10 km from the hotel. Kasteel Engelenburg is situated on a gorgeous property. The building has been lovingly maintained and is just beautiful. The staff was unfailingly friendly and helpful. I enjoyed all my meals here (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) - everything is elegantly presented and delicious. I wasn't at Engelenburg to play golf, but I could still admire the grounds with a walk around the property. Furthermore, there are bikes for guests (regular bikes are free, e-bikes can be rented for a small fee) and immediate access to bike paths to explore the region. I can't recommend them highly enough!

Here you can slow down and have quality time together. No tv, no radio, no busy city traffic, no light pollution. Before you panic: they do have wifi :) It's an o so charming tiny house in a green area with a suuuuuper comfortable bed and a nice, clean bathroom with a spacious shower. And don't forget about the sauna! Also the breakfast (delivered to your door) in the morning was perfect: just the right portion so you don't have to throw half of it away. Warm croissants and bread, eggs, fruit, ham, cheese, yoghurt, jam, fresh orange juice,... And I loved the fact that it was in reusable packages, so you don't end up with a lot of waste. I read in other comments about the train and there is indeed a train nearby but we slept like a baby. I am a light sleeper so I brought my ear plugs, my partner slept without and he didn't hear anything. There are also some animals around and I think that's part of the charm of the property. We would love to come back in spring or summertime so we can have the lovely breakfast outdoors on the little terrace. And if it would be a 1,5h closer to home I'm sure we would use this place multiple times a year as our favourite spot for some quality time as a couple.
