Just 2km from Monsaraz Castle, Monte Alerta is surrounded by a meditation garden, organic orchard and next to the largest artificial lake in Europe, the Alqueva. It features an outdoor pool, hot tub and free Wi-Fi.

Decorated in bright colours, Monte Alerta’s rooms have traditional furnishing and tiled floors. All the air-conditioned rooms have an LCD TV and a private bathroom.

Our stay was a very enjoyable one. The host and all staff were extremely courteous and attentive and I was pleasantly surprised with Sérgio’s fruitful efforts in building a little, beautiful green-eco system from the once almost barren landscape. We highly recommend “Monte Alerta” for your stay in this area.

Located inside the medieval walls surrounding the village of Monsaraz, Casa Daterra, offers comfortable accommodation in a suite and an apartment. With free WiFi, this unit is just a 2-minute walk from the Monsaraz Castle.

Unique and authentic place to stay, it’s like going back in time, nice!!! Everything is like described and how you see it on the pics. We loved the stillness in the early morning before all the tourists are coming and the views from above, beautiful sunsets:)

Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the Horta Da Coutada is a small guest house offering rustic accommodation in the pretty village of Telheiro, 1 km from the medieval town of Monsaraz.

This small property features 9 units comprised between apartments, suites and double bedrooms. All rooms have been decorated to reflect the regional styles with many local furnishings and artifacts.

Joana and Anabela were wonderful, the breakfast was lovely and varied and had a great homemade touch, and the room was excellent. We really loved our stay and definitely want to come back. It was cold so sadly we didn't get to enjoy the pool but the outside area (pool, garden, plenty of cozy places to sit and read) was great to walk around!

Casa Saramago is a quaint property, located in Monsaraz, a medieval village classified as a National Monument. The house features an outdoor swimming pool and a garden and is located a 30-minute drive from the border to neighbouring Spain.

So quaint and comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised that our bedroom had a little sitting room off to the side. And, a terrace that overlooked the whole beautiful area up to the castle.

The hotel is situated nicely. We had a short visit, however we had a lovely time. The place is super neat, clean and quiet. Staff was lovely. The only thing my partner complained about a bit was a firm mattress.

We go often to this place. It is very quiet, with magnificent views of Alqueva,. We also enjoy fantastic sunrises and sunset. The breakfast is very good. Let me add that I am very pick regarding breakfast, since it is my preferable meal of the day. It is my 5th stay over there and breakfast has always been excellent. Fresh fruit, squeezed orange juice, good homemade pastry, etc.

The scenery is breath-taking. Once you enter the facilities you can feel an instant disconnect from the busy day to day life. The facilities and the surroundings are very quiet and you can enjoy waking up to the sound of nature and little ducks that seem to be hosts to the place as well. Dinner was amazing, portions are very fulfilling and the food is made with visible care. Big props for the decoration and all detail in the lounge and pools areas.

This is a smart and clean hostel and my room felt like a boutique hotel. The room had a lovely bathroom. I liked having the younger people about as I was on a solo bike tour. There are shared facilities for making meals etc and beer to buy. I was there on a Monday and there was nowhere to eat. (The bar up the road was good but only did sandwiches). I bought food from the supermarket.
