The room, facilities, the view, hosts and breakfast. The room was cool enough with a large ceiling fan but there was no air con (not an issue for us though).

I loved this property, when I was there it was just for a night, and I stayed at this one room that was there. The owner is a very kind man, he packed me breakfast since I had an early morning train to catch.

The views from the hotel are unbelievable! I had many plans in Haputale, but I ended up spending most of my time enjoying the view from my bed or balcony. You can watch the sunrise over the mountains and tea fields right from bed. It is probably the best view I ever had from a hotel. I would love to come back just to take it all in. The location is also convenient to get to many different tea farms and Lipton’s Seat, if you do decide to leave your hotel room. Haputale is much less touristy than Ella, but you can still find lots to do. Other reviews mentioned no hot water, but this was not an issue for me. There is a switch outside the bathroom to turn on the water heater. After a few minutes waiting for the water to heat up, I had a nice hot 20 minute shower and never had any issues. The staff are very kind and willing to offer advice and help with booking tuk tuks, etc. Meals were simple but good and affordable. I also recommend walking down through the tea fields to the Olive Tea Center for tasty ice cream and other baked goodies. Really good and very affordable!

The room is spacious with a modern touch. It also have a A/C, hot water and good WiFi. Price is super reasonable with all the perks. The owners is super friendly, honest, helpful and generous with breakfast and coffee/Tea. His family and the staff is just awesome. His mother taught us how to cook Sri Lanka food and fed us for free. This by far became one of our favorite accommodations. We even became friends with the owner. Book here, you won’t regret!

Ella Spice Garden is 1.2 km from the guest house, while Ella Railway Station is less than 1 km from the property. The room is well appointed, location is great and breakfast outstanding. I couldn't reccomend highly enough.

Nilowin Glenanore Guesthouse is situated in a part of Glenanore tea estate close to Haputale. This family-run guesthouse offers a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. The accommodation provides a shared lounge, and organised trekking, hikings, activities around the area, and doing cooking demonstration. If you travel to Sri Lanka, it would be a huge loss not to spend at least a night in Haputale, at this guesthouse. This was one of the best places we have ever stayed at in our many years of traveling. The host, Saman, and his family, truly made us feel part of their family. We only stayed 2 nights, but it felt like we were staying at an old friend’s family house. They have a wonderful house overlooking the hills. The rooms are wonderful: clean, spacious, with a balcony and with some of the best views we have seen. The location is simply wonderful, in the middle of hills covered with tea plantations. The host showed us a short hike right behind the house through tea plantations, with views of forests, hills, and lakes. The guest house is perfectly located as a starting point for many of the nature attractions in the area. Saman is such an amazing host, and he will go out of his way to help you plan your stay and organize trips around to Lipton’s Seat, Horton Plains, waterfalls, or anywhere else. Our stay in Haputale was definitely a highlight of a trip, and we definitely recommend it if you’re looking to stay in a wonderful location that is a lot less touristy than Ella. This guesthouse is a place where you will feel like home, you will be surrounded by some of the best views, and where the hosts will go out of their way to help you. The breakfasts were delicious and very filling, and so were the dinners, homecooked by Saman’s family. We also highly recommend taking a cooking class at the homestay with Saman’s family. This was definitely one of our highlights, as we got to know the family, learn more about Sri Lankan cooking while preparing 5 different curries, and finally enjoy a dinner with our hosts after many hours of cooking and laughter with the family. The entire experience is worth more than what you pay for, and the family will really make your stay unforgettable. Book your stay here, you will not regret it.

A bicycle rental service is available at the guest house. The absolute best about third eye ella is the amazing view, second best is the delicious breakfast served in the balcony. The room itself is large, clean and comfortable, furniture is hardwood and very nice. The property is on the top of a short steep hill and there's a flight of stairs to reach the room but Pubudu the amazing host helps carrying bags and pointing the shortcuts: within a couple of minutes you can reach the centre and the train station. Pubudu is also great in recommending hikes closeby
