Alice's place was a great choice and exceeded our expectations. Firstly, the property is located in a beautiful location overlooking Mt. Pico and the view is spectacular. There is a small porch that overlooks the mountain and its a great spot to start the day with a cup of coffe and finish it under the stars with a hot cup of tea. The room was very clean, comfterable and the place had everything we needed (small kitchenette, wifi and laundry (that was amazing)). Moreover, Alice is a very kind and unique person and we are very glad we had the chance to meet her. We are extremely thankful to Alice for making our stay so comfortable and special - thank you for everything! We highly recommend this place :)

The guest house features family rooms. One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in 45 years of travel. Artistic and funky but also warm, friendly and totally unpretentious. The hotel is an old style property, airy and light with big windows and views to the Pico volcano. It is like a gem of an oasis amidst more recent development on the edge of town, but is only ten mins walk down to the big square and port. Breakfast in the spacious dining room is exceptional and the ladies who run the hotel are charming and helpful. We had the extra benefit and unexpected bonus of the Suite, which was like having your own flat with a terrace! There are some trendy restaurant options down the hill with good food - but rather pricey wine, but we found a couple of traditional older places (Medalhas & Lima) that we liked. For whale-watching, Naturalist are a good science-based outfit and if you are short of time or transport they do an excellent half day island tour too - very informative and not touristy. You can do both in one day!

Very clean sweet renovated home. Everything we needed was there. The bedroom was small with private bathroom and air conditioning , it met our needs . There is the option to sit outside and the shared space is very inviting . It feels like home . I would definitely come back again !
