Of the hosts we've had on our five week trip to Italy, Stefania was the kindest and most helpful. We had difficulty leaving Tarquinia, owing to a train strike, and she was right there to do her best to ease the problem for us. Tarquinia, by the way, is a hidden gem, just 1 1/2 hours north of Rome - a walled hill town, in ancient times a capital of the Etruscan civilization. One of Italy's two major Etruscan necropolises is there. Wonderful painted tombs. The town also has beautiful, mostly medieval, churches and a major museum devoted to the Etruscans. We were there on a weekend - there were not many tourists, and they almost all Italian day-trippers.

Timber beams 100s of years old, but updated space with nice bathroom and ACFresh pastries from a local bakery and a personal shelf in the fridge for our family with yogurt and juice. Clean and nicely renovated with a small communal kitchen with enough to prep snacks for hungry teens. Good location in the center of old town. Absolutely worth visiting the Etruscan sites, accessible ancient history in a friendly medieval town
