The room is well prepared for the colder nights around Cartago. Toilet is shared and very clean, as is the room. There is a great reading lamp near the bed and a shared veranda with armchairs looking to the garden, nice to sit down for breakfast or dinner. The well-equipped kitchen and fridge can be used and Berna, the owner, leaves coffee done every morning. She is a school teacher for ethics, stands up very early and returns home at around 5 pm. She is really nice to talk to and ready to help or advice on options around. The house has a recycling policy and offers plenty of different containers to dispose of garbage. The address can be easily found in google maps (coordinates are correct). Calle 0 is far from central Cartago but conveniently located near the main road that goes to Parque Nacional Irazu. There are several restaurants close to the house, and a supermarket Maxi Paly at less than 1 km.

Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, Finca Tres Equis - Farm and Forest offers accommodation in Tres Equis. Free private parking is available on site. In the midst of nature, secluded, quiet, laid back. Excellent for bird watching, jumping off point for river rafting. Alfonso was so detail oriented and did everything to ensure we enjoyed the property to our tastes.

We had a wonderful stay. Nathalie the host is so friendly and welcoming and couldn’t do enough to help us. The room is beautiful, well-equipped with a mini-fridge and plates and coffee maker. Lovely bathroom with a great shower and a jacuzzi. The view is so spectacular and it was so nice to sit out and have a morning coffee or afternoon beer. Handy to see Turrialba Volcano, and we went white water rafting on Pacuare river. Very good location for moving between Pacific and Caribbean Coasts on a road trip or to/from San Jose.

We booked this lodge for the last 4 nights of our stay in Costarica, only as a place to sleep- as we planned to spend whole days out on excursions. We were actually sorry that we could not spend more time in the lodge itself. It has some lovely outdoor space where you can sit and relax. It also has a common kitchen which is very well equipped, so you can cook your meals there if you wish. There is also a swimming pool, but we did not use it as the weather was quite cold. Room was super clean and comfortable. We loved the local cat which was very friendly and liked to spend her time in the lodge :-) What makes absolute highlight of this lodge, is Ms. Jessica, who provided excellent service to us during our entire stay. She was always so nice and did lot more for us, than she had to! She also speaks very good English so we had no problems with communication. First morning, we ate breakfast in the lodge - the local Gallo Pinto. It was the best breakfast we had in the entire Costarica! Big portion and perfectly cooked and flavoured. You will love it! And the breakfast outdoor seating is very nice. For the rest of our mornings, we were actually leaving very early (around 5 am), and Jessica was so nice that she always prepared for us breakfast and left it in the fridge). If you have rented car, you can park it in front. You can also arrive by public bus (like we did), it is only around 5-10 minutes walk from the bus station. Just be careful, there is no signage with the hotel name, from the street it lookes like someone’s house. If you are at the entrance to the cemetery, you are already too far :-) search for black metal staircase - that is your place.

El mochilero, a property with a garden and a terrace, is set in Cartago, 4.4 km from Jardin Botanico Lankester, 16 km from Irazú Volcano, as well as 1.8 km from Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels. Randall was great, everything went very smoothly. The place is nice and clean, the room was big and spacy, the bed was super comfy. There is fully equipped kitchen for common use, the location is about 15 minutes walking from the center which is great, and there is a supermarket just across the road in case you feel like staying in and cooking. And of course the price is amazing!

Great and reasonably priced location to stay overnight on the way to Irazú Volcano. We liked walking proximity to Cartago city center, kitchen availability, the garage to safely park the car, private bathroom. Mauricio and his brother were very hospitable having provided information about places of interest and catering nearby, addressing our needs, serving simple breakfast, sharing water bottles and tea. Thanks a lot to Mauricio who informed me of a need to reserve the Volcano area entrance tickets online otherwise we'd have to do it at the top of the mountain with limited Internet connection potentially facing tickets have been sold out.

An amazing wide view on the mountains. The hosts were so warm and welcoming, feels like at home. If you are interested in herbs and medicinal plants they can give a tour in alabuela's garden. The breakfast we had was the best during our month trip in costa rica. Perfect stay for driving through or for a longer period of complete relaxation. At a driving distance from the Irazu volcan and national park for hiking. Beautiful!
