This place was excellent! You could not ask for nicer staff! They went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant! The food was delicious and the breakfast was more than plentiful! The rooms were very clean and very comfortable! It was chilly when we were there and they had heated our rooms before we got there! They have a beautiful roof top restaurant with a view of The Taj Mahal in the distance! It was also very helpful that they spoke English and helped us with our itinerary for the two days we were there!

I write this review from a specific perspective — I had arrived in Vrindavan with a group but then stayed a few days on my own. I have been to Vrindavan previously but I was a little nervous about staying solo as a western woman… Vraja can present some challenges for us in regards to attracting attention, even if you are an experienced devotee. I usually stay at MVT so I can walk directly to ISKCON by myself, but it was full and I am SO GLAD I found Shree Krishna Bhakti Ashram instead! It perfectly threads the needle between having comfortable rooms and being peaceful and still in the center of Vrindavan, with the real spirit of Vrindavan and not like some of the newer developments. “Ashram” conjures up thoughts of austerities — and on the same trip I stayed alone in a Math that I couldn’t handle alone… but the rooms here are incredibly comfortable and provide things that seem luxurious in an ashram, especially for the price. I had a king-sized bed with comfortable mattresses, multiple pillows, and duvets — no fuzzy brown blankets … A wardrobe, a table and chairs for sitting, a KETTLE and tea/coffee cups with some hot drink packets and even digestive biscuits!!! Also an amazing ceiling fan, real towels in the washroom, a shower head providing hot water with water pressure instead of a bucket… etc. There’s even a TV with cable, I believe, but I did not get a chance to use it. there’s also an enclosed colonial-style veranda looking out onto a lawn which is a peaceful place to enjoy your beverage. The ashram features a small temple in the back which seems to offer small aartis daily, but this really seemed like more of a guest house than a residential ashram. anyways here is why you should choose this place as a solo woman — there is always security and the staff are AMAZING and super helpful! I booked specifically based on other Booking reviews that expressed this.

The hotel is located in quiet place. Rooms are clean. Owners and the staff are so pleasant and helpful. Indian home breakfast. Good wi-fi connection. It's possible to have a dinner nearby (I recommend a bar located on the roof near the main street. You find it easy by a map.)

We were greeted warmly even though we arrived very early in the morning. The family who run the place are very accommodating. It’s a short tuk tuk to the Taj and other sites. When not sightseeing, Shiv Kathi is a relaxing place to unwind and includes a sitting area outside the rooms.
