StayInn Hostel und Gästehaus is located in Freiburg im Breisgau. The guest house features a terrace, and there is free WiFi access in the lobby and on the balcony.

Each of the rooms at the guest house features a refrigerator and a private bathroom.

The place was much nicer than we thought it would be. It was very comforable, spacious, and clean, and the common space was really homey. The location was great, quiet, but not too far from the city center. All around great!

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.

Relatively central location, and the hostel had a very friendly and open energy. Large room and large common spaces. The beds were mostly single beds (not bunk beds) and there were many lockers and outlets. Fairly clean, large, well-equipped kitchen. A good stay overall.

Cheap place to stay close to the old city, and very close to many hiking trails with great views of the city. Good kitchen and common area with couches, a hammock, and a piano. Staff seem to do well at making sure everyone is feeling safe and respected by other guests.

It’s an independent hostel and you can really feel it in the spirit of how it’s run. There’s a huge difference in my experience in staying here and in regular corporate hostels. Everyone was so nice and there was a real backpacker spirit all around. What was especially nice for me was to sleep in a real bed and not a bunk bed! Plus they make everyone a complimentary cup of strong coffee in the mornings. Thank you!!

Great location within the Black Forest (not many other hostel options). The communal area was great, with plenty of activities etc.

For the general hostel experience I give 4 out of 10. It was ok, nothing more. Didn't feel safe, didn't feel too unsafe, wasn't very clean, wasn't too dirty. Some people are creepy, most are not. If you're low on budget and don't have much choice, it's an acceptable option. If you're not, just do yourself a favor and get a slightly more expensive Airbnb. Staying here might taint your Freiburg experience.

It was one of the best hostel that i have ever stayed in. Firstly the staff was really helpful and welcoming. Secondly, i like the fact that in the rooms there was single beds not bunk beds as usual. The bathroom and toilet was really clean and main things like tissues, soaps etc. were accessible. There are also, cute shared kitchen and common area in the entrance. They offer you Coffee and tea. Even though we stay in 18 people mixed room (half of the capacity was full) it was comfortable. Perfect choice to stay!

This is one of the few remaining real hostels. It is encouraged to talk with your fellow travellers, and that isn't some kind of budget hotel with shared accommodation. I really like the set up, it is like a community house too, with some local projects going on. The location is not so far from the city centre, the dormitory room was very spacious with comfortable beds, and the kitchen is also well outfited. The staff are friendly too.
