This YHA hostel is set in a beautifully converted 240-year-old former granary. This Grade II listed building offers self-catering accommodation with private bathrooms and an art gallery.

The YHA Berwick overlooks the River Tweed, and there is direct access to the quay through a tunnel. There are many shops and restaurants within just a 5-minute walk, or guests can follow the Lowry Trail around this historic town.

Attached washroom was awesome. The reception was great. Parking provided. Fully stocked Kitchen. Nearby supermarket. Loved reading about the history about the building. Lighthouse is just 4mins away, which is a great viewpoint, must visit during sunsets.

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.

This is a very modern hostel that has set a high benchmark for hostel accommodation. It has simple rooms but they are clean and comfortable with good heating. A great commercial style kitchen to cook for yourself or a bistro that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner options for pretty cheap prices. The location is excellent - right in the centre of town. We are bike packers and were able to keep our bikes secure in their purpose built bike shed. We were also able to check in early which we appreciated.

I love the building and the use of the space. I love that it's a community resource and art gallery as well as a youth hostel. The whole building looks lovely. It's really central and we were able to park right outside although there is limited space and it would not have been possible on a week day as you need a permit. We were lucky to arrive on a Sunday when the permit wasn't needed. There are shops and restaurants within walking distance. The harbour is right outside.

Great hostel with very friendly and helpful staff. Comfy rooms and lovely dining room, kitchen and bistro on ground floor. Ideally placed in the middle of the town, next to the town walls and ramparts and a short walk from the estuary. Great location to visit Northumberland and Scotland. My first visit and it won't be my last!

The Youth Hostel was clean and spacious. We were happy with the size of the room for the 5 of us and the en-suite bathroom was clean and spacious. The staff member on duty when we checked in was very helpful and knowledgeable

Fantastic hostel set in a historic building in a great location. Handy for shops, buses, train station and all local attractions. Extremely well equipped kitchen and lounge/dining room facilities on top floor. Friendly reception staff when checking in. Lovely little cafe and sitting area on ground floor. Really enjoyed my stay!

Beautiful property, in a great location just yards from a lovely clean beach. There was a safe key box and good communication with regards our stay, in fact we got in earlier which was great. The property itself was spotless and had everything we needed for our stay, the welcome box was a lovely touch . Decor and furnishings are lovely , everything about it was perfect. Would highly recommend it :)

Great location. It was really peaceful. Amazing view from the living room window. Great price. Felt really safe knowing that the owner was so near. Great communication throughout with Allison (owner). Loved the welcome box of goodies. It’s actually bigger than you think. Wish we had booked longer.
